Ainge has pinky surgery

Ainge ended up getting surgery on his pinky that was broken. It's in this article but doesn't say much about it -- any idea on the procedure or how long he will be out? I was interested to see how he did in camp this summer -- but not sure he will even be there now. Looks like the press isn't even considering him -- but that's normal for a 5th round pick.

Here is a funny comment in the article:

"Rookie QB Erik Ainge (fifth-round pick) isn’t participating because of recent surgery on his throwing pinky. He apparently has spent his idle time studying the roster and the media guide. In a team meeting, Mangini asked Ainge to name everyone in the room - about 100 people. “He nailed it,” Mangini said."

I'm not surprised. Trooper did a radio interview on a Memphis station late last season and said that injury was a lot worse than anyone had originally let out. He said "It was nasty, really really nasty, it still doesn't look straight."

Interesting. I did some research and apparently the Jets fans are already all over him about this -- saying he is a bust, weak, etc. I thought Vols fans were tough on players -- but this kid hasn't even had a chance to compete in camp yet and they've written him off. Hopefully the surgery will do him good.

I always liked Ainge (for the most part) and hope he does well. But more importantly, if he does well, it's just more good press for UT and that always helps recruiting.

I don't see why Jet's fans even care. He most likely wasn't going to see the field this year unless they just completely tanked.

The media and fans are tough in New York, if by chance he gets to start, he needs to quit reading the paper

2004- Playoffs
2005- No Playoffs
2006- Playoffs
2007- No Playoffs

If trends hold true they will be a Wild Card.

I can think of organizations more in the dark than the Jets. Arizona would kill for those facts listed above.

Whenever I think that I am genetically handicapped, I think of Jets fans to feel better.

I had no idea that TVA was a jets fan.
