Football Neyland Stadium

I do go to a couple of games a year at Neyland, but Saturday with the JUMBOTRON behind me, I was wondering if there are any plans to get a twin on the other side?

I don't know, it much be part of the Neyland overhaul that is taking place over the next 4-5 years.

It'd make sense to me.

Mike Hamilton was asked about this either last year or the year before that during an interview on the Sports Animal in Knoxville and he said that at that moment there were no plans to add an additional jumbotron because they were still paying for the first one.

I think that it would really add to the gameday experience if they had another one.

We are in the south end zone and have to rely on those tiny tv's...would be great to have one the north end zone for us to enjoy.

Considering they apparently have a 3 million dollar budget shortfall, I think it would be wise to wait.

A lot of stuff like that is paid for by private donors.

If they are inventing new fees for students, and have a bigger budget than income, they shouldn't be building a jumbotron. It is like giving a homeless man a fur coat, and not letting him use that money to get a roof over his head instead.

A lot of the money is from private donors that specifically fund certain things. They don't always just give "gifts" to the athletic dept.

I completely agree with what you're saying, but sometimes that example isn't always applicable.

I keep hearing budget shortfall and believe this to be a bunch of crap. With mens/womens basketball ticket sales(and concessions to go with ALL the people in the stands) and football......I would expect our renovations/building projects to be loans but who knows?? Athletics covered academics butt for years. Is there any "proof" as to our shortfalls??

How did athletics cover for academics for years? The "proof" will be in their financial statements.

It is also my understanding that one of the reasons there is not a jumbotron in the North Endzone, is that when the Shields-Watkins family donated the land, they said that the University had to leave the view of the Hill unobstructed. I remember it being a big deal when they added the upper deck on that side, and they were limited with how many rows they could go up. I "think" that they can't add a jumbotron to the North endzone because of this scenario, although I may be wrong.

I seriously doubt they'll ever add another one, but who knows. The best thing to do is not sit under the jumbotron.

Only thing I've heard mentioned is upgrading the one we have into one of those wide screen numbers you see at NFL joints these days...

omg i bout started a thread on this and i was like who cares so i didnt i got to work 2 hrs later a thread has been started. i do believe we need 2 jumbo trons but if whoever was right about the view of the hill i dunno how to fix that problem but i agree 2 would be ideal. we can do anything if the fans are paying for it. students will be paying for their seats now anyways so that will help. the team and players and legacy is there for UT football like i have said on 7 other posts. charge for it. if we cant afford it.

i cant believe the tickets into neyland dont cost more than they do anyhow. $75 to $100 is what every seat is worth in that place. i just hate having to pay big money to get a seat so you will get no please dont charge that from me. if you want my honest opinion $200 per seat per game on lower level and $100 for higher seats and $75 or $50 for the nose bleed seats is what id charge if i was hamilton. presale tickets before season to alumni, and current students @$500 for the season. theyre getting first come first serve. then when all of those are bought whats left sell them online and whats left from there sell them at gate for half price. if the students dont like that then heres a little non collegiate buisness lesson for ya. students buy the tickets and sell them if your so broke and cant afford the $90 price your whining about now and make some money!
