| Tyler Smith and the NBA A couple of projections I have looked at have Tyler anywhere from 22 to 27. According to last year he will make anywhere from $800,000 to $900,000 a year. Now the first two years of an NBA contract are guaranteed (they changed it from 3 to 2 last year). So he looks to make around 1.6 to 1.8 million guaranteed.
Now if he stays I think he may be a top fifteen pick or maybe top ten next year barring an injury. Next year there will not be the influx of talented freshmen in the draft like there is this year. If he does make it to around a ten pick then he will double his guaranteed money to about 3.5 million.
Now from what he has said he is going if he is a first round pick which I think he is right now. I also think that even if he doesn't make it in the league then he knows he can still go to Europe and make some pretty good money there. I honestly think he will decide to leave, but I hope wrong. I wish him the best in whatever he decides. |

| Unfortunetly I think he's gone as well. It was interesting to me that NBADRAFT.NET had him going #14 to the Jazz early in the year but now have him #22 to the magic. I didn't see a drop off that would make him fall 8 positions throughout this year. |

#18 Anthony Randolph LSU Fresh.
#19 Darrell Arthur Kansas Soph.
#21 Maurice Speights Florida Soph.
Im sorry but i'd take Tyler over all three of those guys. |

| Yikes ranrad, those are some pretty athletic bigs, moreso than Tyler. Randolph was a scary looking freshman this year. Darrell Arthur is looking good right now, and Maurice Speights is probably a different, bigger position (and this is according to needs) than Tyler.
Either way- that first guaranteed contract is the important one. If Bruce can convince Tyler he can make him a lottery pick next year, then numbers wise it might make sense. |

Speights and Tyler don't really compare in my opinion, and Arthur is a better defensive player at this point, if only for his size as well. |

| Athletic doesn't always pan out.
EX:Darius Miles haha
I'd take a guy like Battier who can do a little of everything over a guy who is an athlete. |

| You would think after his poor showing against Louisville, the NBA talk would be squashed. Tyler needs another year of college. He hasn't scratched his potential yet. That being said, it's hard to need money and turn that kind of money down. |
