| The title of this thread is quite misleading and sensationalistic.

| One of his beefs against the RPI is gaming it, by losing to teams to raise your RPI. What team in their right mind wants to lose a game to increase their RPI rating? That's just nitpicking for the sake of saying "my" rating is better than the current standard.

| The current Colton index has the exact same top 7 teams as the RPI.....hmm if the RPI is a joke, what does that make the Coltonindex?

| hrmmm...
go out to 20, and there's only 4 teams different between the 2. Doesn't look like his is that much better, if at all.

You're also saying he's unfairly biased against the vols because his analysis of their numbers suggest they are not as good as certain other highly-ranked teams, and that he then goes on to 'skew' those very same numbers which initially led him to arrive at his conclusion, which is a peculiar point to make and even more peculiar to fault him for. It's like saying "You're just saying chocolate hurts your teeth because chocolate hurts your teeth, you chocolate-hating liar!" | what have you got against chocolate? |

I did not prior to getting the Colton breakdown, which you should watch/hear in order to better grasp what is so particularly flawed with it.
The 'joke' aspect of the RPI is in its ultimate deciding process and the way you can ACTUALLY gain by losing. That right there should suggest something in the realm of 'joke', no? |

But given the conclusions he arrives it, I'd say his like of numbers helps him argue his case much more effectively than someone who would simply say "look, the vols reliance on turnovers, I think, could maybe hurt them. Dude trust me, i watched'em on Raycom." |
