| I normally just do Raffertys when I am in Athens. It is chain food, but it is consistent. |

| Isn't that restaurant "The Varsity" in Athens? That might be a good "before the game" kind of place if I'm thinking correctly. |

| There's a bar and grill called the "Blind Pig" that has good food and cold beer. I went there before last years B-Ball game and had a great time. UGA fans will outnumber VOLS fans about 4 to 1, so expect to hear it from some of them. |

| Downtown: Last Resort; Harry Bissett's; Porterhouse Grill; De Palma's
Five Points area; Five & Dime
Mitchell Road area; Harry Bissett's II
Also there are the usual chain restaurants, all away from downtown, including Longhorns, Chili's, Outback, Olive Garden, Roadhouse, etc, etc, etc.
Word of advice. Downtown after dark is very crowded. It's a pretty swinging place late at night with all of the clubs and restaurants. |

Great food at very reasonable prices. You order at the counter and they bring you the food, but don't get the idea it's fast food. They serve everything from great burgers and fries to grilled trout and tuna. Just don't tell anyone about it. It's getting too popular. Just the other night I ran into UT's favorite coach there, Jim Donlan. |

| THE best place to eat in Athens as far as gameday food is Uncle Otto's; best fries I have ever had. I'll be there stuffing my face in an orange blazer at about 12:30pm. It is right downtown, there's a map on the site. Uncle Otto's European Eatery
If you are looking for something nicer, the East-West Bistro is a great place, right across the street from Uncle Otto's. I've been several times and never been disappointed. Decent wine list at last check. east / west bistro -- homepage
Harry Bissett's sucks, IMHO.

| I only know where to drink in Athens. Never thought about eating.
Pick any spot and have only 1 beer. Then walk off and find another place and have only one there. Repeat, at least 5 times. Then discuss which place you liked best and go back there for the rest of the night. Use your waiter to order a taxi. |
