If UK wins the national championship, Gillispie can do cocaine and have a 17-year-old girlfriend. Until he pulls that off, though, he needs to behave himself.

No way. Knight was a retread at Texas Tech. His style of coaching burned out a long time ago.

I agree. UK has very stringent alcohol policies for scholar athletes. The coach should set the example, not be the exception. He's getting paid enough to be that example. At least if he's gonna abuse, do it in the privacy of his own home.

I just can't see how Calipari would ever be a good fit for UK. He has some recruiting history issues that don't mix well given UK's recruiting practices in the past.

Barnhart, however, does have the student athlete first at his heart. While he was longsuffering with Rich Brooks' on the field performance, he saw a man who was building the program the right way. BCG may not be doing that. I don't know, really. We're dealing with rumor and innuendo. But a 1-year tenure HC for BB at UK would be unprecedented. That hasn't happened at UK since 1927.

I'll tell you one thing- UK may not be on par with Tennessee this year, but they are turning a corner.

Let's see UT cruise on all cylinders without Lofton.

ut played its first 15 or so games without Lofton. UT has one of the deepest teams in the country. being loftonless would really only matter against the better teams.

given the history of UK and they're basketball insanity, then I have to believe it's possible that they keep him no matter what he does short of murder

He had a deep hatred for Joe B. Hall and the way the UK program was run under Hall and Eddie Sutton. Knight despises all cheaters, and he relished beating teams that he knew were cheating.

He made his peace with UK once they started making an effort to abide by the rules. Lou Henson at Illinois was another example of this. They started out as friends, then Illinois started cheating and they feuded for years. When Illinois stopped cheating, Knight made peace.

Yeah, because we all remember how an egomaniac like Rick Pitino failed so miserably in Lexington.

Isn't that the truth. Kentucky was the perfect place to. The fed that ego until he was so full he had to go back to the NBA.

RP had style and I think that fits right in with the Derby bluebloods, whereas Knight just crass. Big difference.
