So, I will go with your source and say that I was wrong then.
DeCourcy is one of the best. He's required reading for the college basketball fan.

And that's where he should stay. I shudder every time he opens mouth regarding CFB.

This is correct. Cal was not interested in taking the UK job had it been offered.

I could care less about the girlfriend, but if a coach can't control his drinking then that's something 99% of universities won't tolerate, especially from a 1st year coach at a program with the profile of Kentucky.

Unless it results in an arrest, the vast majority of schools could care less if their coach consumes a bottle a night, so long as they are winning.

Had the pictures of Larry Eustachy at frat parties surfaced while he was winning back to back Big XII titles, instead of when the team was fighting for an NIT bid, he'd still be the coach at Iowa State. There are no bigger hypocrites on the planet than university administrators.

True enough, but Billy has already been in trouble with the law twice due to driving while intoxicated, and from the rumors I'm hearing some people are amazed he hasn't gotten one at Kentucky yet.

Very true, but apparently the problem with BCG is that he's not exactly the kind of guy who likes to stay at home to do his drinking.

In my own experiences with Lexington (ex-GF was born and raised there, so I've been there many times), I never thought it was an overly staid, ultraconservative town. Plenty of bars, plenty of drinking going on.

I think UK just wants to have it on record. If he does mow someone down walking to class, they can fire him and not honor his contract.
