Tennessee quarterback Erik Ainge has a jammed pinky on his throwing hand, UT coach Phillip Fulmer said Tuesday morning. Ainge is expected to play Saturday against Cal, but he will be limited in practice this week. Backups Jonathan Crompton and Nick Stephens are expected to receive more practice time this week. More details as they develop online and in tomorrow's News Sentinel.
I was at the press conference when Fulmer announced this. He didn't seem fazed by it at all. No worrying, and Crompton's name wasn't brought up initially, a question was raised on whether or not Crompton would be ready, and Phil answered it.

It didn't seem that way from the ESPN footage of the press conference, but maybe they edited it....

I mean I heard what the man said. Ainge will be playing on Saturday whether you want to believe ESPN or not.

I believe you. There was a spot right before he said that where it appeared ESPN had spliced the footage together. I'm guessing they didn't choose to show it the first time he mentioned it...just the response he gave to the question.

I just saw on ESPN that Tennessee scored yet another touchdown against your defense last year.
