Dear Mike,

You were wildly unappreciated at the University of Tennessee and should go down as a top 5 offensive coordinator for the University. You turned a BUTCH JONES Offense into something special. Since you left, this offense is the worst offense I have ever seen even worse than the years with Worley and Crompton at QB. I just dont understand why the UTAD keep deciding to hire these crappy coaches and hire somebody proven in a league full of proven coaches. You could have been something special but BUTCH JONES the worst coach in the NCAA mirco managed your offense and made you look like a crappy Offensive Coordinator. Sorry for running you outta Knoxville.

Yours Truly,

Debord for HC?

Debord was CBJ guy (Not to mention his mentor and long term personal friend) just like Scott is his guy (and he knew he could easily control him)...Butch runs the offense and both Debord and Scott are just there in title only.

Where do all of you guys come up with this Butch runs the offense and the OC's are just ventriloquist dummies? None of you have any idea

2016 was the best team Tennessee has had in a long time. But without Mike Debord that team would have been 7-6.

That guy was/is legit..........he made the best of what was given to him. Tennessee scored and drove the ball with that guy........last year giving up 5000 yards on the ground the last half of the season screwed things.

(not saying they should have been 7-6....should have been an 11-1 reg season team......just saying without him they would not have been 8-4)

Not sure what your point is considering you quoted my post.

Debord was underrated. Brady Hoke as HC and Debord as OC would whip this team nine times out of ten.

DeBord was another Butch Jones lackey. Our offensive success the last 2.5 years was all Dobbs.

Remember how the offense looked in 2014 before Dobbs took over? Yeah just like what we're seeing right now. Butch Jones offensive futility only turned around when Dobbs became the full time starter against South Carolina.

Debord and a freshman QB and took Michigan...a top 10 team...to overtime today. IU was one more decent offensive run play from beating them.

If they had a back like Kelly on the roster another top ranked team would have went down.

If you think the offense wouldn't look at pathetic as it does now with Debord still here then you are delusional.

This has always been Butch Jones offense. Debord and Scott are nothing more than lackeys doing what he tells them. The only reason this offense had any success the last 2.5 years is because Josh Dobbs was an extraordinary once in a lifetime talent.

You really think Debord designed all those offensive line breakdowns that Dobbs turned into big plays because of his athleticism? LOL.

I can't argue those points D4H. Dobbs really did keep Butch employed.

How does the offense this year look any different than the offense in 2014 before Dobbs took over?

It doesn't matter who the OC is. Whether its Bajakian or Scott. The offense has looked exactly the same. The only exception was Debord and he was lucky that he never coached a game at Tennessee where Josh Dobbs wasn't his starting QB. And as we all saw, most of Tennessee's success under Debord was because Dobbs would usually make something out of nothing with his athleticism.

You need a very mobile QB for this system.... it works when you do.... see Kelly with Mariota. Butch hasn't recruited that type of QB and has failed to adjust to their abilities....

Debord is a better shotcaller than Scott. That's all I know.

Yeah..but debord called some killer plays bro.

Debord playbook consisted of Tennessee's offensive line letting free rushers at Dobbs only to have him evade them with some incredible move and either pick up big yardage on the ground or throw it to a receiver.

The idea Debord was some offensive genius is laughable. There's a reason only Indiana would hire him. And before that it took Butch Jones bringing him out of retirement.

Debord is another guy who owes his salary to Dobbs.

It really is mind boggling when you think about it. Why would you recruit a kid like Dormady to run this style of offense? It's trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.

That's the biggest indictment of Butch's inability to take the program to the next level. That seems like such an obvious thing to do yet here we are.
