but some of the rules are different, and the overall style of play is different enough to not warrant the comparisons it inevitably gets. | It gets compared becaue it invites being compared. |

Actually, not many do use men to practice against and, laughably, the NCAA women's committee is thinking about banning the practice of doing so. |

I respect that you disagree. But, honestly, would you feel this way if it weren't for the fact that UT stands with just a few schools to make it work? I mean, if Summit left and UT was on par with Florida or some other similarly bad women's team, would you care like you do? Of course not. |

Learned that from personal experience.

it's interesting fodder to take an example like pat summit, who is at the top of hte mountain in women's bball and ask the question what if.......
but at the end of the day, what if has no bearing or consequence on the actual accomplishment acheived.
to try and do so is a meaningless and fruitless exercise that has only one purpose, to devalue that accomplishment when compared to the men's game.
it would be no different if someone had simply come on here and said "congrats, but it's no men's championship".

The money generated from athletic events is used for all sorts of purposes, including scholarship and academics in general. Granted, most of it goes ot building the sports programs, but if you look at the direct and indirect impact of these revenues, it is clear that athletic success has a huge impact on everything from merchandising rights to alumni contributions. |

that's a silly question, of course it's because she's at TN and her record is what it is.

You don't think that the women's game's adoption of the NCAA tournament format, the Final Four, the whole thing -- isn't a painful effort to make the women's game comparable to the men's game at least in appearance? |

I have personal reasons but would still watch and care.
And Summitt leaving is the funniest thing I've heard. |
