I have been looking for a thread and didn't find one in reference to Evan Berry. If there is a thread already I apologize ahead of time. Please direct me to the thread and have someone delete this thread. Does anyone have a update on him? What exactly is the injury he is dealing with right now? I don't remember him getting injured during the Tech game. Also if I remember correctly he didn't see the field against Indiana State. I would have sat him anyways against Indiana State with no disrespect towards Indiana State. Thank you for the information 👍

CBJ said in his presser that berry was questionable. I have no idea his injury this year or last. I do not think it has been discussed much.

The only thing I saw was on one of the kickoff looked like his ankle got rolled on. He returned another one after that so not sure.

he got hurt in Tech game. I think he tweak a knee but that has not been validated. He is listed with an undisclosed injury

My apologies if this sounds ignorant, I honestly don't know the answer. I know Berry is an outstanding kickoff return specialist but does he contribute anywhere else on the field?

I ask that only because one thing UF is really good at is kicking the ball out of the endzone on kickoffs, so they neutralize any good returners. So I don't think losing Berry hurts UT very much, at least in this game.

And yes I know it's pathetic that a Gator fan is touting his teams ability to kick off really good. 8 years of crappy offense does this to a man.

Why is it that our favorite players are the most injury prone?

How many Shy Tuttle's/DKjr's/Josh Smith's/Evan Berry's can a team have?? It's getting ridiculous.

I noticed that too in the Michigan game. Your kicker kicks it way out of the endzone. He would have to miss really bad to even give our returner a chance. Now if it's raining then who knows how far kickoffs will go? Punt returners for both teams are more likely to play a significant role IMO

Yep....with UT it's always something. Never enough depth. Never enough experience. Always multiple key players "injured". No idea how we field a team these days.

Evan also plays safety, and was in the two-deep at the position last year. Not usually a starter, though his stat sheet shows he started three games last season.

But where he really shines is kickoff return, yep.

With Pinero putting over half his kickoffs through the end zone, you're right, Evan's chances of impacting the game in a big way go down. Especially since you guys may only need to kick off to us one or two times all game (fingers crossed).

On top of which, it looks like we have other stars emerging at that role.

Still, we'd rather have Evan healthy and ready to go, obviously. He's electric.

With CBJ being the MOST CAUTIOUS coach, then that means Evan Berry WON'T play Saturday..........but hey as long as we win..........

Yep, Evan's backup at KR did okay last Saturday.

I think we'll be okay either way. If it helps Evan and our team for him to sit another week and heal, then that's what our coaches ought to decide.

Coach said "questionable" on Monday...reaffirmed "questionable" on Wednesday.

Could even be "questionable" at game time.

I think he travels. And dresses out. Just no idea whether he sees the field.

You pretty much got it right. If your kicker can get it out of the end zone, Berry is neutralized. If he can't, it completely changes the dynamic of what the kicking team will do. We've seen teams pretty much hand the ball to us at the 35 instead of risking kicking it to Berry. Or, you can ask Georgia about the importance of not getting a celebration penalty on the score preceding the kickoff. Unfortunately, he hasn't been able to work his way into a prominent role outside of special teams.

How will rain affect your kicker's distance?

Rain and wind conditions could have a major effect on kickoffs
