So I'm watching INDvsDAL and they start talking about "riverside" in relation to a football call. They made it seem like you're flipping the play to the other side, I think. They were wondering about the origins and one guy said they thought it came from Riverside California but then someone else said it came from Tennessee because the practice field was by the river and that's where it started.

Anyone know about or have used this when playing football?

Riverside High School in Parsons TN?

You say that in jest, but my high school football coach used to say it all the time and we all thought it came from Riverside because we played them in the jamboree that year. Every practice, "Riverside it. Punt team!" I can't believe it is a common saying.

Teams normally pick a random word that starts with r to audible to reverse the play call. Nothing special about Riverside.

Not sure of the origin but i can say my high school team used the term "riverside" aswell whenever we were doing any stretching to switch from one side to the other. Dunno if it's a California or southern thing..I'm in south Florida and my high school coaches all played at auburn not sure where they picked it up tho.

Riverside, CA....the porn capital of America.

Its a play designed to go to Wide Receiver and not the Tight End.
