7. Tennessee: Despite all the talent on last year’s roster, no player caught more than 40 passes for the Vols. And their top receiver graduated. But between Josh Malone, Josh Smith, Preston Williams and Jauan Jennings, this should still be an improved group in 2016. The key will be finding a go-to No. 1 receiver, something Tennessee hasn’t had since Justin Hunter in 2012. The unit saw a slight boost in the rankings because of tight end Ethan Wolf.

seems like our receiving corps has had tons of "potential" but very little "production" for a few years now.

i think it's accurate given the lack of production, overall, our passing game has put up the past few years. this is the 2nd or 3rd year in a row where you can see all kinds of potential, but yet to see the production and results.

time to live up to the hype....for everyone. enough talking about it...more doing it.

In other words, "the Azzanni Effect." Guy can recruit his butt off and his receivers really like him, but has proven to be unable to develop the talent he recruits. Needs to put up or shut up, this year.

The offense only completed a total of 220 passes all last season. Passing less than 38% of the time. Hard to get into a rhythm throwing the ball with stats like that IMO.

Plenty of blame to go around for our abysmal passing game but, if we are to win the east, this part of the offense must improve.

We are loaded at WR once again. Unless you are D4H, delivering the football accurately has been the Achilles heel. Perhaps Dobbs will improve accuracy. This offense will be a monster with a passing game.

I'm gonna ask for some help on this one. What's the break down on our passing game?

Attempts
Completions
Sacks
Scrambles
Picks
Drops

The talent we have on the field, it's gonna be a challenge to spread the wealth.

The 38% of the time is only thrown balls not sacks and scrambles.

And if we throw it to JH or AK that takes a way from the reciever's numbers.

Jump higher Vols.

we've been potentially loaded at WR for the last 3-4 years.

This, aside from random injuries, will decide rather we have a good year or a championship season. If we can get a more balanced attack, this offense will keep defensive coordinators awake at night.

Yep. Was surprised they're giving him a 4th crack at trying to get production out of a very talented WR group. He can recruit but evidently can't Cosch/teach for ish. Oh well, hope the guys can somehow overcome him this year and start to realize their potential.

Injuries and suspensions have killed us; just think what might of been with Pig, a healthy North, and a nonsuspended/healthy Williams last yr.

George is one to look out for, he is very talented. P Willy will have a breakout year, mark it down. Edit: And if he stays healthy, let's not forget about Croom either, he is a big, fast powerful dude at 6'6 250.

Along with George, I've also seen and read that Nixon is reminding a lot of people of Pig and might be dangerous as a slot receiver. I don't follow recruiting as close as the fellas over in the recruiting forum, but that was my take away from highlights and articles.
