An overnight sensation he is not.
Rather, Kendal Vickers is a steadying force in the middle of Tennessee's defensive line after following an old-school college football path: redshirt season in 2013, backup role player a year ago and now starter on an improving Vols' front.
"Redshirting is probably the best thing I could have done since I've been here," the Havelock, N.C., native tells VolQuest.com. "I knew I was undersized, of course; I got here kind of late. I didn't get her until that July (2013). But that's probably the best thing I'd say that could have happened to me.
"I love it here. I wouldn't change it for anything. I love our fans, I love the guys on this team. We've got a great group of guys on this team, and I wouldn't change it for anything."
