Tennessee is 40-20-4 all-time in the capital city. That mark consists primarily of a 37-18-4 mark against Nashville-resident and SEC rival Vanderbilt.

The Vols played a nation-leading 23 true freshmen in 2014. LSU was second with 18.

In his Monday press conference, Butch Jones said the Vols could play up to 22 true freshmen in the opener vs. Bowling Green.

The Vols played a school-record 21 true freshmen in their 2014 opener vs. Utah State.

The Vols open the 2015 season ranked No. 25 in both the Associated Press and Amway Coaches Polls.

The Vols have not been ranked in the season-opening polls since the 2008 polls at No. 18. The last time the Vols were ranked at all was at No. 23 in the Sept. 12, 2012 AP Poll. The Vols have been ranked in 39 preseason AP polls, including 19 years in a row from 1990-2008.

All-time, the Vols have been ranked in 52 percent of polls, dating to 1936. In being ranked 25th to open the season, the Vols have been ranked at least once in 59 of 80 seasons of the poll, 74 percent.

Weather update for the game:

It will be a hot and mostly sunny day, with temps in the low to mid 90s (heat index could be near 100 degrees). I do recommend that you bring an umbrella just in case, as there's a slight chance for a couple pop up showers.
