‘Twas the night before football and all through the state
Many creatures were stirring from the east to the west
The car flags were hung from the windows with care
In hopes that all would know for whom they would cheer

The players were nestled all snug in their beds
While visions of touchdowns and big hits danced in their heads
With fans all over sporting their new Vol Nike gear
Settling in for another year of touchdowns and cheer

Once in Nashville there will be such a clatter
Fans from coast to coast will take notice and see nothing is the matter
Away to the end zone Tennessee will fly like a flash
The offensive line opens holes to run through with a dash

The stadium lights shine down on a pristine field below
Where on Saturday at midday Tennessee and Bowling Green will play
And what can my wondering eyes see there?
The Vols in orange and white, ready for the day

At the front of the pack as always leading them into battle
Was Butch Jones set for a third trip through the schedule
With him was Jancek and the newcomer DeBord
He pulled out his mic and shouted them by name

Now Dobbs, now Hurd, now Kamara and Pearson!
On Maggitt, on Sutton, on Tuttle and McKenzie!
To the line of scrimmage, swarm around the ball!
Now offense dash downfield with a tempo so perfect

With a result in the pocket, the game now finished
The Vols head home for a date to Checker Neyland
Back to Knoxville they went, more victory on their minds
And we heard the refrain all across Big Orange Country

“Happy Gameday to all, It’s Football Time in Tennessee!”

Butch Jones the leader of the Volunteers
knows that kick off time is close
and when we finally kick it
we are going to bloody their nose

All of our SEC peers
used to laugh at how we played
they wouldnt let poor Dooley
win many SEC games

Then one foggy winters eve
Butch Jones came into play
he recruited players with futures so bright
we can beat anybody on any given night

Now all our peers respect him
cause they know how good we can be
Butch Jones the leader of the Volunteers
he'll go down in history!!

I've got twin 2 year olds they enjoy this.......
This little piggy went to the market style.....

This little Smokey ran thru the T.....
This little Smokey chased a gator up a tree.....(refer to Steve Ford "Got 'me Treed")
This little Smokey blocked him a kick.....
This little Smokey got him a pick.....
This little Smokey strong and true scored the winning touchdown for me and you.......

Volunteers all clad in orange,
Even our highway safety cones are orange,
Poetry is hard.
Orange.

As I read this thread
All I can think
Is some of this poetry
Really does stink

But I won't say whose
And I won't call names
Cause I'm more concerned
With watching Vols games.

You know the games at 4pm, right? Just didn't want you to get confused at noon (midday) or to wait too late when it's dark and the lights come on.

Kirby is one of my favorite posters. But I admittedly checked out after the attempt to rhyme "state" with "west".

Roses are red
Violets are purple
...

(I'll get back to it when I come up with a rhyme for purple.)

Wow, less than 1 page until you quickly backed away from owning the post. :pilot:

I didn't see the Brian Rice citation at the bottom. Was it there originally?

Yeah, it was there...just hidden to the eyes after that wall of text I suppose

I just hope we get to play the same Vandy & South Carolina I saw play last night. SC is lucky they won. Too bad the NC coach was not smart enough to run Hood more.

I saw that the UNC's RB (Elijah Hood) averaged 11 yards per carry vs SCar and Mitch went 9 for 22.

Those stats have to be really concerning if you're a SCar fan.
