VQ QUICK HITS
Everyone is going to be talking about Khalil McKenzie bulldozing Austin Sanders in one-on-one pass-pro drills. That was impressive, but considering the matchup, it was even more impressive to see Shy Tuttle definitively win his tilt with Marcus Jackson, pushing the senior several yards deep into the backfield and depositing him on the turf.

Despite it being a skill players battle, Jauan Jennings impressed everyone and showed some toughness in the 'Circle of Life' drill, owning Justin Martin decisively in their matchup.

Derek Barnett was a total mismatch for Dontavious Blair in the drill, blowing around the corner and into the backfield with ease.

Drew Richmond notched back-to-back wins against Darrell Taylor while John Kelly overpowered Stephen Griffin. Richmond also more than held his own in a pass-rush set while Chance Hall got the best of Corey Vereen in 'Circle of Life.'

MOAR TENNESSEE DRILL: In other Tennessee Drill action, freshman offensive tackle Drew Richmond beat freshman defensive end Darrell Taylor, freshman safety Stephen Griffin beat freshman running back John Kelly, freshman wide receiver Jauan Jennings destroyed sophomore cornerback Justin Martin, freshman cornerback Darrell Miller destroyed freshman wide receiver Vincent Perry (though Perry fared somewhat better in the rematch), sophomore guard Dylan Wiesman and senior defensive tackle Owen Williams fought to a draw, freshman linebacker Austin Smith beat senior tight end Alex Ellis, sophomore tight end A.J. Branisel beat freshman linebacker Darrin Kirkland Jr., freshman offensive tackle Chance Hall beat junior defensive end Corey Vereen and freshman cornerback Micah Abernathy beat his brother, senior running back Ralph David Abernathy IV.

-- The Vols opened practice with a one-on-one drill between defensive backs and wide receivers, then held the "Circle of Life" drill for the first time this preseason. Cornerback Justin Martin won the first matchup with sophomore receiver Josh Malone when Malone dropped a pass in his hands from quarterback Joshua Dobbs. Backup quarterback Quinten Dormady's pass to wide receiver Jauan Jennings hit cornerback Micah Abernathy in the back and quarterback Sheriron Jones's pass to wide receiver Marquez North went out of the end zone, giving cornerback Rashaan Gaulden the win in that drill.

In the Circle of Life drill, 350-pound offensive lineman Charles Mosley and 327-pound defensive tackle Kahlil McKenzie battled to a draw. Freshman offensive tackle Drew Richmond overwhelmed freshman defensive end Darrell Taylor, using a weight advantage of approximately 81 pounds. In another notable matchup, Jennings, who is working at quarterback as well as wide receiver, quickly knocked Martin to the ground.

I feel a bit guilty -- I'm about to go to a relaxing burger cookout, while my VOLS are giving it their all #3, practicing for a 10-2 +/- run in 2015. GO VOLS !

Just left practice...

One on one drills: KMAC drew Mosley in their challenge. Jennings destroyed Martin. Micah beat his brother RDA4. KMAC absolutely demolished Boulware...had the entire team and media going crazy. Jack Jones beat Kyle Phillips.
