I posted a small preview of this thread in the Ole Miss thread. Mods, do what thou wilt.

So, naturally I'm foaming at the mouth for football season (like we all are) so I need to feed the need if you will. I'm downloading every sports app I can find and subscribing to everything Vols.

One problem...

Missouri fans.

So now I get to speak. And VN please feel free to pile on. They deserve it. They need it. Oh, reality.

First of all, concerning my team. You beat the 2 worst teams (undebatable) in UT history in '12 and '13. The former being the worst defense to ever take the field in Vols history and the latter the least talented team in 119 years of UT football. You got us in '14 thanks to injuries, a long pass and catch and a little help from the zebras. Yay.

Concerning the rest of the SEC. You backed into those 2 SECCG appearances you're oh so proud of and got your hats handed to you by two historic SEC powerhouses that you had no buisness being on the field with. We know it. You know it. UGA choked it away and you didn't take advantage.

Your accomplishment came during the Muschamp era. It came during the UT Doomsday rebuild. UGA let you have it. And I let UGA fans on a daily basis "have it" for letting it happen.

The best 2 year run in the history of Missouri football with zero hardware to show for it.

And if you're annoyed with the UT hype - be glad you weren't in the SEC from really the mid-80's to 2007. You would have been seeing little orange men running in your sleep from the coverage this program was getting from every major media outlet in the country.

It's happening again. Hope you like orange.

Gonna go ahead and drop the mic. Peace, Tigers.

Not worried about Mizzou. They will soon be just another KY or Vandy to us.

I hope they have enjoyed the past 2 seasons because it's about to get real.

Tell them to go get a national championship and come back so you can have a conversation among equals.

Dunno, their best short-term run might have involved that 2007 season:

Let's be honest, the following is an insult to us also, but the truth. The biggest praise they have received the past two years is "winners of the dumpster fire that has been the east".
Despite their self appreciation (They're fans, it's what we all do) Not one single publication or program has mentioned them as a serious contender for any real award. I'm guessing you have been reading and getting upset by posts from "trailerparkbobthetiger"... I wouldn't get so worked up.

I stand corrected. Still...no hardware to point to.

The fan base has this weird red headed step child complex that's really frigging annoying.

Makes me want to find the nearest Tiger fan and...

I'll keep it G rated.

Missouri has had some pretty darn good teams the last few years and the Vol's haven't.
Is 2015 the year the Vol's get even with Missouri?
One would think if the Vol's are indeed back, that they win this one, No?

I've never met a Mizzou fan. I don't know anyone who has. I've never been to Missouri nor have I ever met anyone from Missouri. I'm starting to think it's a cover up. Mizzou may not actually exist much like Bigfoot

I live in Northwest, TN.

10 minutes from the Missouri border.

It's borderline torture.

I think Mizzou and A&M showed that the big bad SEC is not as big and bad as we like to think it is.

Alabama 7-1 12-2
Mississippi State 6-2 10-3
Ole Miss 5-3 9-4
Auburn 4-4 8-5
LSU 4-4 8-5
Texas A&M 3-5 8-5
Arkansas 2-6 7-6

Yep, that's showing them! :)

That's actually not that bad in that meat grinder of a division. I would have given my left one for 8 wins last year.

Nice! Some may have thought this thread was about the attitude of Missouri fans. Just like the person who created the thread said that it was. But you quickly reminded us that being ready to judge game X and the Vols, was the actual purpose that you.... I mean the OP intended:p

If AJ hadn't gotten suspended that week, the Vols probably would have beaten Mizzou and we'd have had those 8 wins. Of course, in hindsight, you might be relieved we only got to 7...

This would piss me off if not for my absolute hatred of everything black and gold at the moment.

As you're browsing SDS or BR look at the comments. I promise you'll be right there with me.

I'll save A&M for another day. (seating capacity)...Jesus.

Kind of, but the 2007 season - I was in St. Louis at the time - had them reach a #1 ranking in the polls..as well as beat a #2 team, have a Heisman finalist and being in the position of a conference championship away from playing in the national title, without needing any help.

Just had seemed to me like that one would have a bit more of an edge (if comparing the two).

LOL... I'm with ya. Honestly though, they are fans being fans. Many here have us winning the NC in 2016 because Al Wilson was awesome in the 90's and Neyland is the standard not the exception. Other fans annoy us and we annoy them. It's college football!

At this point I'll come to the rescue of any rival fan if a Missouri fan starts their crap. LOL!

I think that kind of dove tails well with the OP. What actually happened in 2007 in the Big 12? Did they really just jump up and become a great team?

They didn't play Texas that year. The two best teams in the Big 12 North (and this should make it pretty clear by itself) were Mizzou and Kansas. Every other team in the North had a losing record that year. Their OOC opponents were Illinois (9-4, Ole Miss 3-9, West. Mich 5-7, and an FBS school).

Give them credit for taking advantage of opportunities. Basically, very similar to what we've seen in the SEC. Then, they play someone with some talent and coaching and get hammered.

PS- I think they dropped Illinois when they moved to the SEC because they feared it would make their schedule too tough....

Well, there's 1 way to shut them up.

Here's to hoping a UK sized win streak begins this year before I lose my mind.

It wouldn't be so bad if that program didn't stick out like a sore thumb. Even perennial losers like UK and Vandy have an identity. Oh, they're the nerds. Oh, they're waiting for basketball.

Missouri is just that northern team that plays in a dump with a weird hill and kicked the ball into Scott Frost's waiting arms in '97. Or did Frost kick it to himself? Either way. Hilarious.

Even? They should pass them like they're sitting still. Mizzou was thin and had holes in their roster. Then they lost Loud. VERY good chance they lost Brantley today because of an auto accident. They have no WR's with experience or proven ability to produce. Mauk is wildly inconsistent. They have one RB who has performed in the SEC.

If this were our team, the sky here would have already fallen.
