With his senior basketball season at Atlanta-area Milton High School out of the way, Quart'e Sapp finally got to focus on football strength and conditioning.

For the first time in his life, the four-star linebacker prospect was able to pack on a few extra pounds.

After starring as a linebacker who weighed anywhere from 190-200 pounds, the nation’s No. 232 overall prospect in the industry-generated 247Sports Composite now has 212 pounds on his 6-foot-2 frame as he prepares to enroll at Tennessee — which he’ll do in a couple of days after driving to Knoxville on Thursday morning and moving into his dorm.

It must be fun for these kids to go back to their high schools during the first Christmas break after being in an SEC S&C program.

Better not be going anywhere except bowl practice over Christmas break ;)

Guess I'm a negaVOL as I don't see him leapfrogging all the existing talent currently on campus to be #2 behind JRM. We have a lot of gifted athletes on campus competing for that spot. If he's not really needed for special teams, I'd like to see a RS to allow him to adjust his body weight.

Although if I'm recruiting a HS player, I would be planting the idea of immediate playing time as a possibility also.

I really hope we have enough at LB that he can redshirt..

Imagine the size and strength he could have after a whole year of nothing but S&C and learning to play at a D1 level.

He could really be good next year.

Sorry but if he gets thrown in now at a position like LB.. it could ruin his confidence.. or worse get him hurt an ruin his career.

I am a big advocate of redshirting all freshman, with small exceptions.. like WR or maybe even running back. Those are positions that talent and skill can override lack of experience. JMHO

I don't think you worry as much about ruining confidence in a defensive player. The only position that that's a concern (imo) is QB and I'm personally of the opinion that if a kid is mentally fragile enough to fold after underperforming that it wasn't going to work out regardless.

I really enjoy having all this young talent on special teams. Last year seemed like the best kickoff and punt coverage we have had in awhile. It gets the young guys a chance to get their feet wet and they're talented enough to make plays. Last year Gaul den and Kelly were everywhere on special teams like Maybin was when he was a freshman.

I hope we can red shirt him. Would be nice to add an extra year of eligibility to these talented kids we are recruiting.

A 6' 2 190# top 247 LB must be hell of a hitter with a big frame...

Why is he not a safety?

Why put yourself through that? They've just recently quit attempting to convert TKJr on here. :pinch:

Yeah I got to 6'2" 220 pretty quick from visiting Gus's on a semi-regular basis. I'm positive that the menu prices went up after midnight.

I was literally about to post that Gus's is the only place where a burger is $8.00 until you've had a few to drink. Then, it's $20.00

Exactly. Let's just I say I was over served one particular evening and took issue with the cost of whatever I ordered and was escorted not so kindly from the premises. They don't take no jibber jabber from drunk idiots like myself at Gus's.

I'm curious, what did you think about Derrick Barnett coming in and getting first team reps at defensive line last year?
