Smart, very smart:

Finding footing in life after football is why Wednesday night's VFL Career Development Night inside the Anderson Training Center is stressed so heavily within the football program of Butch Jones.

Targeting rising juniors and seniors on Tennessee's football roster, the event that's now in its third year serves as two hours' worth of networking with 30 representatives from more than 20 companies, most being former Vols themselves.

"It's so important for these guys to realize, even if you do go to the league, what I try to tell them is, even if you do go you may want to come back and partner with some of these businesses," [Antone] Davis said. "Still go ahead and make the relationships, build the relationships. And heaven forbid something happens, you get hurt, now you're at least positioned to where you built that relationship. And it's a long-term relationship, not 'Hey, I'm going to shake your hand and get to know you now because I want something.' You've built that relationship instead."

Most kids won't make it to the NFL and that's a very hard thing for many of them to adjust to.

Our VFL program is a great program in so many ways and we should all support it just as much as we support our football team.

These kids give their all for our entertainment and we should all try to help make sure that they all have a good life after football or any other sport.

Well said, Titan. Butch's investment in our players as people is truly telling of his core values. The contrast with the coaches of the Dark Ages is remarkable. Butch isn't looking for quick payoffs, he's building for a dynasty.

does that woman from the tennessean want to write about something like this in the paper? Of course not. Shes been going hard at UT making the place seem awful..... oh well, this is Just another example of Butch and the program doing positive things for their kids.
