| I think its because it actually is the oldest rivalry in the southeast.
I usually skip the Georgia page when I read the Chattanooga sports page. ;)
It's also bad having to listen to Dr.B on the local sportstalk radio show flip-flop after every game.

| This is what I mean (from the Athens-Banner Herald)... Old rivals rarely clash as top 10s Rarely, however, have Georgia and Auburn collided as top 10 teams.
When the eighth-ranked Bulldogs (8-1, 6-1 SEC) play No. 3 Auburn (9-0, 6-0) on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Jordan-Hare Stadium, it will be just the third top-10 clash in the oldest continual rivalry in the Deep South and the first since 1983.
The Bulldogs haven't beaten a top five-ranked team since toppling No. 1 Florida, 24-3, on Nov. 9, 1985. They are 0-7-1 against top five teams since then (including a 23-23 tie with Auburn in 1994). Only one of those losses has come under Richt, 34-13 to then-No. 3 LSU last season in the SEC Championship game.
This makes me hate the Dawgs that much more. Posers. |

| The way this game is, anything can happen. The home team doesn't usually fare too well in this series. |

[b] Does anyone else feel like puking when you have to read about this match-up?
Excuse me if I don't shed a tear about the "Deep South's Oldest Rivalry"! Of course, it's not the Auburn part that bothers me...it's because of the stupid Dawgs.
Here in Chattanooga, we get as much UGA coverage in our "newspaper" as we do for UT. Maybe this makes me over sensitive. UGA-AU is not a great national rivalry. It's rarely affected the national scene of college football. Both teams have had their great streaks but they've never seemed to coincide. Great rivalries are Tennessee-Alabama, Auburn-Alabama and, for the pure spectacle alone, Florida-Georgia. But who outside of those schools cared about the that rivalry before 1990 (when Florida football actually began..contrary to popular belief down in humidity-land)? I[ll even give you Ole Miss and Miss State!
I just needed to get this off my chest. I'd be interested in others' thoughts and opinions.
And ,I don't get a thrill out of this but War Eagle!
| I'm from Chatt but now live in "humidity-land" and I'm really looking forward to this match-up! Two good SEC football teams colliding, good fun, but this match-up doesn't compare to many SEC match-ups.
WAR EAGLE!

| | Senior Member | I love sports talk radio, but I think it's laughable how much they change week to week.
The "power rankings" change soooo much. First it was the Pats going to the super bowl, then Eagles and now the Steelers.
I remember early on everyone was calling for Warner's head, people were taking bets when Eli would take over. Then, one good week for Warner and he's great and the "answer". Now, flip-flop, once again he is the problem and there is Eli talk. |
