New 2015 RB Commit - Joseph Young

As a blue shirt, he will count against 2016's quota. When the 2 ** shows up there will be rumblings about the quality of next year's recruits. It's a shame but it is fact.

Running back DEPTH CHART...3 scholarship runningbacks (I don't count Abernathy as a pure RB) let them "rumble" at that.

Not to be a star gazer, but do we really want three low-star blue shirts with no reputable other offers to count against our 2016 class, which will be measurably smaller than the past two classes? I do trust Butch to do the right thing, but this doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me...

Young is an insurance policy because of the lack of depth at RB. And he give immediate help. He will probably play more STs that RB. Also I thought he was rated 3*, not 2. I read that his decision was between Vols and OSU. Both were BS offers.

Obviously coaches are more worried about the depth now than the numbers for next year. We already have 4 four stars committed though. I expect CBJ to blueshirt some guys in the 2016 class and bring in another top 10 class.

He is big, fast enough = short yardage specialist, special teams, he hits the holes and appears to have good field vision. He is not a superior athlete, but once he gets in the Strength and Conditioning......he could be a good one.

There were more 2* players in the superbowl than any other ranking by far. Hurd and Kalmara are studs but injuries will happen and coaches don't want to be caught without any depth, as in last year when we were moving one of the Berry twins to RB before the Vandy game because Tennessee was that thin. Injuries will happen. (Ask Georgia)

Other than No Star and One Star players, there are more Two Star players in existence than any other.

So true. but somehow we as fans buy into what Rivals, Scout, 247, ESPN, etc.. are selling because they are good at marketing and selling. Trust REAL COACHES who have evaluated a player and know where a weakness or depth issue may be to do what is needed.

Go back the last 10 years of UT recruiting classes and tell me how many 2 star players have seen any significant playing time. Still I believe offer lists more then stars and this kids was non existent. Have to believe he is a walk on with a "chance" to earn a scholarship. There were several backs in the Knoxville area this year that looked better. Not sure how we have a spring game without moving some current players to running back.
