The #Vols are happy to announce they will open the 2015 season vs. @BG_Football at @LP_Field in Nashville on Sept. 5

Just to clear this up. It is Bowling Green State University from OHIO, not a school right up the street in Kentucky. A lot of Tennesseans get that confused.

Should be a good test for us to open 2015. BG is a bowl team this year and return all their top skill players including starting QB, RBs and WRs. Not sure about their O-line or defensive starters.

I like it! Should still be a fairly easy win against a team that should compete for their conference crown. An improvement over UAB in my opinion & far better than another FCS school (ie Tennessee State).

After further review, they return every starter on offense and all but two on defense. In fact, they return every 2nd stringer on offense and defense except one on defense. A very young bowl team that will certainly be even better next season with all these returning players.

Bowling Green depth chart as of 11/22/14

UAB shutting down football ended up costing the #Vols $275k. They got a $925k buyout from the Blazers, but are paying BG $1.2 million.
