The pay out doesn't matter too much as it gets split with the other 13 schools anyway.

Son of a,,,,4 top teams will share $116 million dollars. $18 million each for the first playoff game - and $22 million each to get to the championship game. Ridiculous.

I think the winning team keeps a higher percentage of that money though. Pretty sure I read that last year.

I'm one of the "old guys" here and I can tell you that I remember the history of the Gator Bowl and what a good bowl it has always been....I'm sitting here totally elated that these young men (very young men) have played their hearts out, been coached by a great coach/man who is going to be at the top of UT lore, and have been rewarded with such a fantastic bowl..This is just the beginning.....Can't wait until Jan. 2 GBO

I'm not old enough to recall the history of the Gator Bowl, so Thank you for sharing your experiences. Great reward for these young men, this program, and our fanbase.

A large portion of that money at least in Alabama's case goes into a pool that gets divided equally to all conference members.

I remember as a kid going to the 1973 Gator bowl vs Texas Tech in a Tee shirt and then the following year the 1974 Liberty Bowl in a jacket, coat and toboggan and still freezing my butt off. That was a long time ago but one thing hasn't changed Jacksonville in the winter is better then Memphis anytime of the year.

When these types of situations happen, I try not to make any assumptions . I don't assume AJ and Mike are guilty because other athletes have been guilty of rape , and I don't assume the alledged victim is lying just because other women have lied . I really don't like people acting as if this young lady is making this up . Rape is a very serious crime not to be taken lightly . I hope that these 2 young men are innocent for all parties involved . A couple of weeks ago a warrant was obtained to get DNA samples . I gotta admit though that doesn't look good at all

If I remember correctly, those payouts get divided into 16 equal shares. The team playing in the game gets 2 shares, the conference office gets one share, and the other 13 schools in the conference get a share. Anyone see why Vandy would never want the leave the SEC?

This explains why my cable bill has skyrocketed. Crazy, the SEC alone is (rough guess) going to get close to 90 million. And we still put up with 20 minutes of commercials for every 50 minutes of programming. Okay, enough *****ing - Kick Iowas ass.

I recall a great Tennessee win vs. Virginia Tech in ourlast Gator Bowl; which was played in the Swamp. They were refurbishing the stadium in Jax for the Jaguars inaugural season.

Also the only game Peyton ever won there.

So if bama makes the Championship then I think it comes to 82,620,000 for the conference.

I don't know how it breaks down but if we split it 14 ways that would be 5,901,428 for TN. That's pretty good if it happens (hope bama loses in the championship). 12 teams in bowls is good for everyone!!

The Gator Bowl is a huge upgrade over the bowls in Tennessee.

The irony is that the boys in Jacksonville passed on the Gators. Too funny. :lol:

It looks like the SEC separated the teams this year from geographical proximity. It would have made sense to send UF to the Gator and UT to the MCB or Liberty but they did the opposite.

It's almost like they pulled names out of a hat. I'm glad for the players and fans that they get to go to FL for New Years. Beats Nashville, Memphis, or B'ham!
