What in the hell are they thinking? TSU would be the second FCS team we play and would need a waiver from the NCAA for it to count in the 6 win requirement for bowl eligibility. But talking about a sorry OOCS!

Not that there is any real possibility of being remotely close to being in the playoff next year, but if the unimaginable happened, we could be like Baylor on the outside looking in.

I'm all for a winnable game, but come on! At least make it a countable game against an FBS team.

I'd rather not play a school like that, but our options are extremely limited.

Probably pretty easy to get that waiver since a team on our schedule just killed their program. Not really our fault

Well, it's The Tennessean, otherwise known as Pravda on the River. Chances are good it's not remotely true, like everything else in that rag.

I'm sure this isn't something UT wants to do, but let's be real here. It's not like we have a lot of options. I'd love to avoid TSU, but it's better than an open date to start the season. This isn't UT's fault. UAB closing up at this very late date puts everyone on their schedule in a bad spot. Can't blame UT for this. So tell us...who do you suggest UT schedule? Surely there are numerous teams with an opening that UT can schedule.

We play in the SEC. It doesnt matter who play OOC. If we take care of business in conference that is more than enough to get us in.

Good luck getting that through some peoples head. They think every OOC game should be against a ranked power 5 team.

If this were the BCS I might agree with you. But with this playoff committee, OOC matters. The President of the committee stated just today on the selection show on ESPN that AD's need to be aware of it when they are setting the schedules in the future. OOC is a factor.

This is going to cost us a lot of money to get somebody in here at this point.

Not saying that at all. But the president of the committee just stated that OOC matters and it is a factor. One of the biggest reasons, other than Baylor not having a conference championship game, why Baylor got left out of the playoff and Ohio State got in. He also has stated that AD's really need to be aware of it when setting schedules.

Its not a matter of ranked teams, its a matter of quality opponents.

You can choose to ignore it or not. Simply playing in the SEC is not gonna be enough with this committee system.

All that does for a young team is thinking they are a whole lot better than you really are and when that second game comes around you just might get your azz kicked because you didn't work as hard the week after putting 60 up and playing everybody, I know we got to play somebody but playing TSU would be a joke, now if it was the 70s they could play with us.

thats stupid, its because there are to many ass hats on this site that call out anyone who has any info and if a recruit or something else changes they are thrown to the dogs.

Go check out the last few pages of the joe Henderson thread. Obvious fake insiders in that thread.

It matters to Big 10 teams and teams that play in other weaker conferences, not us.

The Legion of the miserable would have been happier if UT was 5-7 and staying at home for the Holidays.

The only thing that will guarantee its not true is if Hope Hines reports it.

if we were to knock off bama, sec west, florida, and georgia in a season, we would have no issue

Does not matter for us next year. Oklahoma is enough, almost too much. We need 4 guaranteed OOC wins.

Win the SEC and have 1 loss or less, get in the playoffs regardless of the rest of your schedule.

Pretty simple stuff really.
