If the Offense Scores Early, our Defense wiil not Fail

Take any game this year, any, our defense has out played the opposing team for most of the game. That's when they are playing like a top 10 defense. The problem occurs when the offense grows or continues stagnant and gives the defense no reason to continue playing 100%. We need to score early and first or it's a blowout., Go Vols!:rock:

Agreed, but can our poor offense really score first and early vs Bama D? I don't think the O-line can keep them off Worley tbh

I agree. They just need to come up with a game plan. I want to see them come out playing to win, instead of playing so vanilla.

We are not only gonna have to score first it's going to have to be on defense or special teams and it needs to happen like 3 times because our offense isn't going to score very much.

Our D gets TIRED. We can't expect them to be on the field that many minutes.

If our offense could some how, through big plays or short fields, put up 17, and our special teams and Defense could give us 7, we have a shot.

They just aren't deep enough to hang with loaded teams for 4 quarters. It's not about them giving up when down. Up 10-0 at UGA and give up 21 quick pts. Up 3-0 at Ole Miss and give up 14 quick pts. They just get gassed. Butch said it himself, people playing 80 snaps instead of 40.

If the D says to themselves "O isn't scoring might as well quit" then they shouldn't be out there. Insinuating such is a slap in the face to players like AJ, Cam, Barnett, Curt, JRM, really the whole D.

Yes, scoring points helps win games.

Yes. If Worley makes a couple of plays like the ones he missed vs Ole Miss then it will be a game. If the OL improves then it could allow the skill players to make some big plays.

These are very, very big "If's".

We scored first against Georgia, Florida, and Ole Miss.

Title should be, IMO...

When offense has it's only good drive of the game and then stalls and kicks a field goal...

Our offense has scored 12 points, all field goals, against the last two SEC teams..Field goals ain't going to win against Bama..

The OP is right: It's hard for the defense to stay strong all game when the offensive is contributing nothing. Yes, it would help to score a TD early--but we will need more than 1 TD to beat bama. We'd probably need /at least/ 24 points to win this game, and this offense isn't going to do that.

I know this is a crappy thing to even think with our defense playing so well for most of the game, but with our offense playing this poorly it would be really nice if we could score on Defense/Special Teams. We've had a couple close ones in the UGA game and the UF game I think TKjr picked driskell off on like their 28 yard line or something close and then kinda ran into a lineman or something, just trying to figure out how in the world we can score some points Saturday.

We scored the first ten against GA and first nine against GA..Scoring first means nothing. Even scored first against OleMiss. If the offense cant sustain drives andagainst put TD's on the board it doesn't matter cause the defense will eventually wear down if they are on the field all day.
