The statistics you are about to read are going to blow your mind. The scheduling disadvantages (in addition to all the other's we've faced the past 4 years) is staggering.

Below are the final record and matchup's each East team has faced versus the West each year since 2011. TN's has been exponentially harder.

Tennessee

2014: 3 Ole Miss (6-0)
2013: 1 Bama (12-2), 7 Auburn (11-2)
2012: 19 Miss State (8-5), 1 Bama (13-1)
2011: 1 LSU (13-1), 2 Bama (12-1), 3 Ark (11-2)

UGA

2014 : Ark (3-3)
2013 : LSU (10-3) , Auburn (12-2)
2012 : Ole Miss (7-6), Auburn (3-9)
2011 : Ole Miss (2-10), Miss St (7-6), Auburn (8-5)

South Carolina

2014 : Texas A&M (5-2)
2013 : Arkansas (3-9) , Auburn (7-6)
2012 : LSU (10-3), Arkansas (4-8)
2011 : Arkansas (11-2), Miss St (7-6), Auburn (8-5)

Florida

2014 : Bama (5-1), LSU (4-2)
2013 : LSU (10-3) , Arkansas (3-9)
2012 : A&M (11-2), LSU (10-3)
2011 : Alabama (12-1), LSU (13-1), Auburn (8-5)

Vanderbilt

2014 : Ole Miss (6-0)
2013 : A&M (9-4) , Ole Miss (8-5)
2012 : Auburn (3-9), Ole Miss (7-6)
2011 : Alabama (12-1), Arkansas (11-2), Ole Miss (2-10)

Kentucky

2014 : LSU (4-2)
2013 : Bama (11-2) , Miss (7-6)
2012 : Ark (4-8), Miss St(8-5)
2011 : LSU (13-1), Miss St (7-6), Ole Miss (2-10)

That means the total record of West teams each team has faced so far the past 4 years is as follows

Tennessee : 86-14
Florida : 76-27
Vanderbilt : 58-37
Kentucky : 56-40
SC : 55-41
UGA : 52-44

That is absurdly more difficult.

The SEC West has just been the far better division the last 4 years. TN *****ed and fought hard to keep its permanent matchup with bama, and that's what makes up 37 wins in the last 3 years....

Here it is without the natural rival to show how bad our draw has been.

Tennessee

2013: 7 Auburn (11-2)
2012: 19 Miss State (8-5)
2011: 1 LSU (13-1) 3 Ark (11-2)

UGA
2014 : Ark (3-3)
2013 : LSU (10-3)
2012 : Ole Miss (7-6)
2011 : Ole Miss (2-10), Miss St (7-6)

South Carolina
2014 : N/A
2013 : Miss St (7-6)
2012 : LSU (10-3)
2011 : Miss St (7-6), Auburn (8-5)

Florida
2014 :
2013 : Arkansas (3-9)
2012 : A&M (11-2)
2011 : Alabama (12-1) Auburn (8-5)

Vanderbilt
2014 :
2013 : A&M (9-4)
2012 : Auburn (3-9),
2011 : Alabama (12-1), Arkansas (11-2)

Kentucky
2014 : LSU (4-2)
2013 : Bama (11-2)
2012 : Ark (4-8)
2011 : LSU (13-1) Ole Miss (2-10)

That changes it to the following

Tennessee : 49-10
Florida : 33-17
Vanderbilt : 35-16
Kentucky : 34-23
SC : 32-20
UGA : 29-28

Seems like we always get one of the best Western Division teams each year. Ole Miss is having the best season they have had since the 60's and guess who they play - TN. Oh and let's make TN travel to Oxford also. Last year the same thing - Auburn was 3-8 the year before, but since they are playing TN in 2013, let's make then National Title contenders. Of course we don't play LSU this year since they are having a down year. But when they were in the top 5 year in and year out we played them two years in a row.

I don't recall off hand who we draw from the west next year but watch out they will likely be national title contenders since they land on our schedule!

Y'all are looking it as a negative? When Vegas puts out their over/unders for win totals next year. put the house on Arkansas and the over. $$$$$$ So when the Vols lose to the 7-0 Pigs, we still win!!!! Make lemonade out of lemons.

Um no. I'd rather have a W and keep it simple.

Sticky-worthy, IMO. Freak, let's make it happen

Good analysis. Vols have had an unlucky draw on the West teams last several years. Bama every year during period they are very strong and even the rotating teams have strong years when we have to play them.

However, over the last four years shown Tennessee has not done well against the East teams either. When we start dominating the East, our record against the West will improve also, no matter who we play.

The great years of many wins each year are not too far in the future. Butch and staff will get us there.

Go Vols!
