At this exact spot in Dooley's career here at TN, he had 1more SEC win and 2 more overall wins in his regular season stats than Butch Jones does.

One of those wins was over Butch Jones is a blow out victory.

The other NON conference win over a Major Conference team was NC ST. That coach has since been fired.

Dooley finished 5-7 in his second year.

I am hoping Butch can turn this around and Dooley just had more talent but this is not a good sign.

Jones took over a program after Dooley had left it in ashes. If we had the offensive weapons that Dooley had, we'd be 4-1 right now at worst and would have probably went 8-4 last year.

How in the world could you make this assumption? Its pulled directly from your rear.

Take a close look at Dooley's first year. "Youth and inexperience" were the excuses de jour.

Dooley took over a program Fulmer and Kiffin left in ashes. We have to stop blaming every single problem on Dooley. Is Jones anything more that great recruiting and slogans? I don't know.

Really. Want to name the offensive "weapons" that were better than the current group that Dooley had in year two? And remember, Hunter went down early in game 3.

The D personnel UT has now were at least as good and about as experienced as those Wilcox coached at UT. Too many forget just how bad Fulmer left the roster... then the Fulmer/Kiffin class of 09 pretty much blew it up.

I like Jones' style and methods. He's getting "close".... but then again Dooley didn't look hopeless until later in year 2 or early in year 3. Close just isn't good enough. He has to take advantage of opportunities like the one this past Saturday.

Wins are what matters. Slogans and cliches are fine. Philosophizing is fine. Everything they're doing is "fine".... except they still have to start beating SEC teams and not just Vandy or UK.

We'll be lucky to beat UK this year

Or what? Simply fire up the coaching carousel every 3 years, wash, rinse, repeat?

The way Kentucky is playing, 5-7 may be the ceiling for Team 118.

You mean UK... in their 2nd year with a new coach (2-10 last year)... with less talent by far than UT has?

Didn't something similar start the process that resulted in Dooley being fired?

If Dooley hadn't finally put in Bray instead of Simms that first yr. he would not have made that bowl game. Dooley was a fool for not starting Bray. They may have won 9 games his first yr. I won't even mention his defensive coord. hire when they averaged 38 pts a game and still went 5-7.

At what point did anyone prior to Dooley recruit a class with ZERO offensive linemen? That is just absurd. And that is the weak point of this team, without question. It may not be the only thing holding this team back, but it's one of the most significant.

Good chance UK will lose their last 6 games. So don't hand them a cigar yet.
