| PROPOSAL: UT to join the ACC (Letter to UT president and Board of Trustees):
Dear Dr. Petersen:
As an alumnus of your great institution, and after careful consideration, I suggest to you, that a move to the Atlantic Coast Conference would be beneficial to our school.
First, after watching the ACC Football Championship game this year it's easy to see that the Vols would probably win the ACC every year if they were in that conference. Whereas, since we are stuck in the SEC East, we are doomed to be playing second and third fiddle to Florida and Georgia, especially with our current head football coach who can't beat the former and seldon beats the latter!
Secondly, with the improved basketball program at Tennessee, thanks to the timely hire of one Bruce Pearl as head coach, moving to a more prestigious baskeball conference just makes sense.
Thirdly, I appreciate your efforts to make the University of Tennessee a center of excellence academically and going to the ACC and having sister institutions like Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, and North Carolina would enhance the value of a UT diploma, in contrast to being in a conference with outlaw football factories like Florida and Alabama (just to name two).
Geographically, especially if we could replace Boston College, this would be a good move for our fans in East Tennesse, especially considering the fact that it is almost impossible to get to Fayetteville Arkansas!
I trust that you and the Board will carefully consider this proposal and bring this to the attention of the respective commissioners of the two affected conferences.
Sincerely yours. a UT graduate and Fan |

Sincerely yours. a UT graduate and Fan | If Tennessee switched conferences, then I just might pull for Bama. It would outrage me completely and it isn't warranted at all. Just because the football team isn't 12-0 and our basketball team has improved is NO REASON to switch conferences. The money we make from the SEC is probably about 3 times greater than what we would make in the ACC. Plus, the SEC is BAR NONE the GREATEST FOOTBALL CONFERENCE IN THE NATION. A statment like the one you just made rockydoc, can get you in some concrete shoes if the Knoxville Mafia finds out. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE LETTER. GO VOLS!!!!
