Never been to an away game other than @ USCe before. Athens is an hour and a half away, so I decided I'll probably go to the game. So, what's there to do there? Where do I park? Atmosphere? Etc. Thanks guys.

Prepare to be barked at. It's a pretty good trip and atmosphere. Been there twice. The first time we drove and parked at the intramural fields. It was a decent walk but not bad. 2nd time we took a shuttle from the airport that drops you off about 5 minutes from the stadium.

Yeah, my girlfriend went to a USCe game there, said the fans are annoying. I'll battle through. haha

Try to park and tailgate on East Campus. The parking is free in the East Campus Parking Deck.

You can't go wrong with restaurants downtown. They also have the hot dog/bratwurst guys down there too (my favorite).

After the game, going downtown is a must. One of, if not the, best college bar scene in the country. 63 bars in a block and a half. Just bar hop around with the Georgia Peaches.

I pulled this from a thread two years ago.

If you have any more questions I'll do my best to answer them.

Night and day different. UF was miserable. UGA has beautiful eye-candy, great bar scene, and you won't sweat your d*ck off.

Just got a ticket in 604 for $100. Cheapest I could find, guess it's a good thing our games are expensive again.

Noted about everything. But the bars could be a problem, I'm 19 going on 20. I pass for older but the ID check game sucks.

They have a Dawg Walk which meets right in front of the stadium. It's pretty short compared to ours, but you can hear their band from there. If you want a good bar scene, go to what they call "downtown" which is essentially Broad Street and Clayton Street (close to the arch). There are some really good restaurants there as well. I like East West Bistro, but there are other good ones. If you want really greasy, but quick, you can go to The Varsity.

If anyone is looking for a hotel, expect a little older feel. The nicest hotels in downtown Athens are Georgia Gameday (which is condo style and decked out with UGA stuff, but very nice), the Hilton Garden Inn, and Hotel Indigo. I'm a big Marriott fan, but that specific downtown location is a dump and is located in a sketchy part of town. Hope that's helpful to some of you.

Went to Athens 2 yrs ago & was pleasantly surprised at how nice their fans were. I went to Gainesville in 1991 & 1993 & it was HORRIBLE! Most classless fans I've ever been around! 10 times worse than the rednecks of Tuscaloser!

UGA parking can be a hassle. It is almost all a hike and seems uphill in both directions. The fans are decent and the eye candy won't require bleach.

Great tailgaiting and beautiful campus. It is probably the worst trip traffic wise to get in and out of the stadium.
