Never done an away game other than Vandy. Wife and I are going to the Ole miss game this year. So my question is, Is there a visitor section? What should I look for and game day tips before I hit click on stubhub? I think we are going to stay in Tunica the night before but any advice is helpful.

Don't take your wife :eek:lol:
Your neck will be hurting!
Hook up with someone you know if you can. The grove is an excellent place to tailgate.
The atmosphere is great and the people are nice. Get ready to hear the hotty toddy chant. Go Vols!

Got to go to the Grove.. Lot of leg,Tents and FUN. Stadium is really small and getting out of Oxford can be a nightmare. They put visitors in the end zone under the scoreboard I believe. I got tickets in 2009 on the street for next to nothing. TN got BBQ that day Dexter McCluster...

You are correct, I was there--- they were all over Orgeron as well. Not a fun day. One of our LBs got taken off the field in a stretcher to add insult to injury-- can't remember who it was, maybe King? Hopefully this year will have a better outcome--I will be at this game. Ole Miss fans are great, their motto used to be that they may lose the game, but will always win the party....

The Grove is certainly a must do. I will be there to visit my son, who is a student at Ole Miss. Whem i go to Oxford, I always stay in Memphis to have BBQ and then brave the traffic. There are not many hotel choices in Oxford.

Make some friends in the Grove and enjoy some good food and spirits. The fans are always welcoming.

The tennessee section is 101 through 106. I bought on stubhub also. I contacted the UT ticket office and asked what sections we had.

There will be a Big Orange Tailgate party starting 3 hours before the game. UT Alumni website has all the info.

Cost $28 ea.

Contact Melissa Smith @ 865-974-3011 or msmith@utfi.org with any questions.

See you at the party:pepper::fireworks:

I was in attendance when McCluster ran roughshod over kiffen's D. As a matter of fact, I think he just scored again. As far as the trip goes it is a MUST for any college football fan. The grove is amazing, people are super nice, and parking is free. We stayed in Olive Branch MS, right across the line from Memphis. Go to the Commisary in Germantown Friday night for BBQ then wake up early and go to the game Saturday. Definitely one of my favorite road trips for a game.

Ole Miss is a great place for an away game. Nice friendly people & the Grove is a real experience. Make sure you check out the candelabras and tablecloths! I've been there the last two times we've played there and it was fun both times even though we lost in 09. UT fans will be in the North end Zone (where the bleachers are)

Definitely stay in tunica... it's the closest driving wise... just make sure that you get reservations now... staying there is very popular amongst volume fans... last time we played there I went and stayed at Sams town and the casino was quite literally covered in orange both Friday and Saturday night

pretty sure there will be quite a few Vols there (esp. since it's pretty dang close to memphis)

I'll probably head down there with some other students!

I'll be there. Starting grad school in Oxford in the fall. I'll be checking out the grove beforehand so I'll be familiar by the time the Vols come to town.

I was there in 09' and I'll be there this year also. It was a good time & the Ole Miss fans are/were pretty nice. Probably because they were all drunk. I remember going into the restroom & the trash cans were over flowing with mini liquor bottles.

The entire hype surrounding Ole Miss and the Grove are way over exaggerated. Are there hot women? Yes. But, even that is exaggerated a bit.

Been many times. Just sayin......GBO

Just bought tickets and got my room. We are staying at the Fitz Casino Friday and Saturday night and 2 tickets on Row 5 in Section L. Looking forward to seeing the grove and tailgating with a lot of Vols.

Sorry, but no. I'm a UT grad twice over, but Ole Miss' reputation is well earned.

To answer the original poster's question for anyone else looking, you could also check out hotels in Batesville or Tupelo. As for seats, while the visitor section is technically under the scoreboard, it seems like you'll find a smattering of visiting fans in sections S & R too. Honestly though, there are not too many bad seats in the entire stadium.

If you or anyone else coming to the game needs any advice on other things (places to eat or whatever), let me know.
