Bama's two East opponents went a combined 9-15. Pretty much destroys any chance of having a tougher schedule than the rest of the conference.
How things have changed. Having Tennessee and Florida actually weakens the schedule. A few years ago this would have made it the toughest.
That AND your OOC which is putrid. Your OOC opponents were a combined 13-35 last year. WVU went 4-8, Florida Atlantic went 6-6, Southern Miss went 1-11, and mighty FCS foe Western Carolina went 2-10; talk about a murderer's row. Bama is the poster child for cupcake scheduling.

This appears to be a deeply flawed, overly simplistic methodology. By looking ONLY at last year's win/loss record, you can equate a 10+ win team from an awful conference to one of the better teams in the country from a "Power 5 Conference".
For example, we play Oklahoma who was 11-2 last year and clearly one of the best teams in the country, as well as being projected as a top 3 team this.
Vandy plays Charleston Southern from the Big South Conference who finished 10-3 last year .....vs the likes of Campbell, Shorter and Norfolk State.
According to the simplified SOS methodology used by the NCAA, Vandy gets approximately as much "credit" for playing Charleston Southern as we do for playing freaking Oklahoma.
having florida later in the schedule and at home helps
Also bama at home helps a little.
going to georgia and uscjr is not much fun, but our November schedule is back in our favor
No arguments there. It's a very silly way of ranking SOS, but bamawriter was trying to point to Bama's SEC East opponents as the reason their schedule is so low on this list, which is not the case.
