Not as well remembered as our other Heisman runner-ups nevertheless the Vol Nation lost a great one yesterday when Hank Lauricella passed away. He last played in 1951 and was a tremendous player.

Everyone please think of Hank and his family at this time and be grateful for the way he represented the University as a player, and later in his life as a pillar of Louisiana public service.

Who else, besides Majors, finished second in the Heisman race? I can't remember the others.

Any of you who have not seen the old Bill Dyer "Dyergrams" of Hank's long runs should try to see some of them. His runs included amazing zigs, zags, and spins. The blocks are identified and are amazing team work. Hank's achievements were truly remarkable, because he really was not an Orange Zone player; he was a long TD specialist. The 1951 team was the delight of my boyhood.

I am being serious when I say you are a more "seasoned" Vol Fan than myself, and would like you to post some stories from that time as I wasn't a twinkle in my Grandfather's eye. I spend time with some older Veterans and just listen to them. Would love to hear your memories when you have a chance.:salute:
