| | Capstone Cruiser | What do the Vol fans think?? Ok there are alot of speculations that Shula might or might not loose his job after this season. What do you think from an outside perspective? Will he? Should he?
Please dont use this thread to bash Bama, please. I am just looking for some honest answers. Thanks. |

| | Member | I think it tough to say. I mean coming off a strong year like Bama had last year to being 5-3... I mean its tough to swallow. Look at what UT did last year compared to the year before. In my opinion no I don;t think he should lose his job. Every program is gonna have ups and downs. Just my $.02 |

And don't forget that Shula significantly overachieved with last year's team. |

| | Capstone Cruiser | Thats true, but a good argument is that we are 1-9 versus our major rivals since he has been head coach. I like Shula dont get me wrong, I was just wondering what you guys thought. We have been in the situation to win most games, but can't close the deal. |

| | Steeler Six Pack! | nah, he doesn't get fired...yet.
too young at too many positions...this is year 3 right? he needs at least two more years before you can really evaluate him. the first year was a bit shaky, last year was great, and this year he's rebuilding...his recruits are now getting in to the system...by 07 and 08 (his 1st recruiting classes will then be jrs. and srs.) you'll know whether or not he's worth keeping.

| This is only his 4th season, right? Given the mess he walked into, surely he'll get 5 or 6 years. Who would Bama try to hire, Butchie Davis? Are Bama fans genuinely interested Cutcliffe? |

| | Bama Hater | As a thirty year resident of Alabama, I am afraid the writing is on the wall. It depends....If you guys can pull off a win against LSU or Auburn it will help his cause. He is wht 0-4 against Auburn, you know that has been the main reason for a few good coaches to move on. But if he can get a win against them All wil be forgotten, memories are short in this state as you know. But if they lose to both teams, one of two things will happen. Either he will clean house and get one season to make something happen, or he will be a casualty. It is sad, but that is the way things are down here. As a coach at bama you are hired to do two things.....#1 Beat Auburn, #2 Win the 13th championship. And you have a short grace period to make it happen.

| | Capstone Cruiser | I have not heard/read anybody talking about who they would want, and alot of what is being said is probably alot of anger/sadness talking. I for one am very optomistic about what can happen in the program within the next 2-3 years. I think we can be a tough team.
Alot of what folks want to see is our OC calling the plays instead of Shula. |

| | Steeler Six Pack! | one thing i know for sure...with the way Bama has gone thru head coaches of late, if you fire this guy, you better have a home run lined up behind him....part of the reason bama has been down has been no consistency at the HC...recruits see that and wonder....your track record is what it is...if you make a change, make it sooner rather than later.

| | Senior Member | I don't think they will cut him loose yet because of the probation he came in on.
However, I do think that he is holding Alabama back. I think he is overmatached in almost every coaching match-up in the SEC and that he only got the job because of his ties to Alabama and who his daddy is.
This past Saturday was the second game against just Tennessee that he made a decision to not go for a TD from the 1, and both times Tennessee won the game.
Some guys "have it", and then there is Shula. |
