Just read that Mike Keith will be doing pay-by-play, thank God no Randy Smith. Randy was so bad it was entertaining once you got past the irritating part of him not knowing jack about the team.

A win over Austin Peay would make the University of Tennessee the 8th program in college football history to reach the 800-win plateau.

Tennessee would also be the second SEC school to reach 800 all-time wins (Alabama, 827).

The Vols are 799-354-53 all-time (.684).

Ten of Tennessee's previous program milestones have come in Knoxville, including the Vols' 750th victory, a 27-10 win over Ole Miss in 2005.

Saturday's game vs. Austin Peay represents the first game at Tennessee for head coach Butch Jones, hired on Dec. 7, 2012 as the 24th coach in UT history.

Jones coached against Austin Peay while at Cincinnati in 2011, a 72-10 Bearcats' win.

In six seasons as a head coach at Cincinnati (2010-12) and Central Michigan (2007-09), Jones owns a 50-27 career record (.649) with four conference championships, including Big East titles in each of the last two seasons.

Vols head coaches are 19-4 in their UT debuts, including first-game wins by seven of the last eight.

Jones is 3-3 in season openers as a head coach.

UT is 86-24-6 (.767) in season openers dating back to 1891.

In the last 29 seasons, Tennessee is 24-3-2 (.862) in season openers. Of those 29 games, 14 were played against teams currently in a BCS conference, and UT is 9-3-2 (.714) in those games.

A win would mark the fifth consecutive win in a season opener since 2009 and the 16th win to open the season in the last 18 years since 1995, with the only losses at Cal in 2007 (45-31) and at UCLA in 2008 (27-24, OT).

The Vols are 92-18-5 (.822) all-time in home openers, including 18 consecutive home-opening victories since 1994.

Tennessee is hosting an FCS opponent for the fourth consecutive year, UT Martin in 2010 (50-0 win), Montana in 2011 (42-16 win) and Georgia State last season (51-13 win).

The Vols have won 17 consecutive season openers that have been at home, dating to a 26-26 tie vs. UCLA in 1985. Tennessee has not lost a season opener that has been played at home since 1983 (a 13-3 loss to Pittsburgh), going 18-0-1 in that span.

The Vols have scored at least 35 points in our last seven home openers and have outscored opponents 315-76 over the last seven home openers for an average score of 45-11.

Jones is 1-0 all-time in August, winning his 2008 season opener at Central Michigan, 31-12 on Aug. 28.

750th win in 2005
800th win in 2013

Last 8 years we have averaged 6.25 wins per season

Just sad

72-10 while at cincy? Maybe we will cover the spread.... Didn't think butch had that much killer instinct in him.
