| | Bring back post junkies!! | Adam Myers-White Just wondering why Tennessee always makes a bigger Safety into a LB. Myers-White is not getting much PT at LB and we are lacking depth in the secondary. Myers-White was ranked as one of the top Safeties in the country coming out of HS. He could have been a Fred White type of SS. We always seem to recuit players that play one position in high school and then seem hell bent on changing their positions in college. |

| | Senior Member | Yeah, I've wondered that myself.... if Meyers-White could be helping our secondary out. Seems like it would be nice to have a big, strong safety... but I guess Chavis has a different opinion. |

I think Miami was the first to start this in the late 80's and early 90's, putting an emphasis on speed over size. Thus we turn bigger DB's into LBs, LBs into DEs, and DEs into DTs.
If you want speed, that's what you do. |

If you want speed, that's what you do. | I understand this completely, but I don't think it is necessary to do this all the time. I think Myers-White would be a big help to our secondary this year. |

| | The Bull3tspung | They looked at putting him in the week before Fl. at safety but for untold reasons that never came to see light of day. I wonder how many "new" faces we will see in the coming weeks.

If you want speed, that's what you do. | Yeah, that makes perfect sense, but it just seems like this may leave you with small, slow DBs sometimes. |

| | Senior Member | His move to LB probably also had a little to do with them not thinking he has the speed to play safety in college. There is a lot of difference a great safety in high school and safety in the SEC. I have to think if they have not moved him back to safety with our depth problems that it must be because he is not suited to paly the position in the SEC. |

| | VN GURU | He is good, but he still has some learning to do. Wanna know why we move safeties to LB? Ask Kevin Burnett, I'm pretty sure it worked out for him. |

| A safety in HS with not so safety speed - in college is perfect for a strong side LB. That position has a tremendous amount of coverage responsibilities and fits this type of player perfectly. With 3, 4, and 5 wide formations today you need that good strong side LB. |
