| We Called The Dogs Off Too Early ! I was sad to see us go with a second string midway through the 3rd quarter. After we scored 50 then we should've inserted second team guys. I understand that they (2nd stringers) need game experience, but as fa ras the season opener with something to prove, we needed to relinquish a little more offensive assault. I don't like becoming complacent. I was highly upset to see Cal score 18 points, they should have remained with 3 points. I am proud of my Vols for dominating the game as they did. I am reading alot of different posts about the Georgia and Florida game, but being an ex-player I will not look over Air Force, that's who is next on our schedule and we need to remain focused on them !

| I was a little upset about the reserves coming into the game so early also. As a fan, I want Tennessee's wins to be as pretty as possible. Fulmer, on the other hand, has never cared how pretty the "W" is... as long as it's a "W". |

| It would've been gratifying to say the least to see us pile it up even more - it was the height of bliss watching those TD's keep comin', was it not? But at the same time, UT has something of a tradition it seems of not running it up more than what's necessary, and I have to admit, I have respect for Fulmer in that regard; I have never been impressed by some schools pushing it into the 70 pt. range or beyond when it's rediculously unnecessary (USC, Texas, Nebraska, e.g.). And besides, we've watched Ainge go down with a season-ender once; we DEFINITELY do not need that now! |

| Im fine with it. Everyone knows it was 35-0. We made a statement that we are ready for football this year. We didn't need to humiliate them.

| I was wanting the shutout pretty bad... as good as they played and as good as 35-18 looks, 35-0 or 49-0 looks a lot better.
But, 17 point win or 35 point win, who cares?

| to be honest I wanted to see a shutout like the rest of you guys did but i think that its good that he took out first string becuase they needed a well deserved rest. By the way did you see what happen to bush yesterday against kentucky? Now what would happen if that would of been Erik Ainge. Tennessee did just enough to prove that this season isn't goin to be anything like last season. I think its pretty funny that cal didnt score untill the 2nd string was in anyways.

| Also, as OrangeSquare pointed out, Crompton was going to play anyway. What better situation than when you're up 35?

| Which is worse if you are a Cal player or fan, another touchdown or two or the fact that the team you were supposed to handle with relative ease was able to get thier backups in for some snaps in the middle of the third quarter? |
