ESPN Ranking top 10 secondaries

NCAAF Ranking the top 10 secondaries - ESPN

10. Tennessee Volunteers Returning secondary starters: 4 Top secondary players: Prentiss Waggner, Brent Brewer

This is probably the most surprising group on the list. The Volunteers did have some coverage issues last year, but they finished the season strong. It started with an excellent showing (only 87 passing yards allowed on 18 attempts) against a Connor Shaw-led South Carolina offense that was about to go on a terrific late-season run. Tennessee followed that up with a 110.85 passer rating allowed mark in November that ranked 20th-best in the FBS in that time frame, according to cfbstats.com.

Combine that trend with a more aggressive 3-4 scheme being implemented by new defensive coordinator Sal Sunseri and four returning starters in the secondary and it should help lead the Vols to a top-25 ranking in 2012.

I was surprised to see this... Joyner has us on two top 10 lists, Espn hates us, though.

SC didn't need to throw; just ran it down our throats, and capitalized on the many mistakes we made. Misleading stat when you can't stop the run.

No way our secondary is top 10. Maybe in a couple of years but definitely not now. Top 25, sure.... but we're not to 10, that's ridiculous.

We also went against a WR at QB in November. Not trying to be negative, but November stats are always inflated when it comes to our schedule, especially last year.

Was at that game. That's not what happened. Neither team could move the ball or score. Our defense played lights out this game. They just had no score support from the offense.
