No comment on his media day?
I honestly haven't seen much of the interviews. Been busy. What I have heard is an improvement over the past. We'll see if it keeps up when it gets "thick".

Fair enough. I think he said some things you may want to hear. Maybe too late for you, but better than never.

If I was raking in all that money not doing anything, I'd probably get lazy too.

We hear this one all the time. I wish someone would explain how this attempt at a rationalization should have any bearing on analyzing Dooley's performance. Do we just accept everything as it is, wring our hands, and repeatedly sob that no one else would have us like we were lepers? You think UT was/is a crappy place that no good coach would want to come to. I get that, but I don't agree with that. Even if it were true that he's the only coach in America that would take the job, I don't care. It's irrelevant. His performance is still able to be discussed.

The Little Orphan Annie attitude of no one loves us is an admission that you think UT is not an attractive place. You can have that negative outlook towards UT; I'm not going to have it. Talk about negavols....

The best season I ever had was when I had some highly skilled big guys with nasty attitudes on both sides of the ball combined with average to decent skill players.

Too bad having awesome players in both areas is a rare occurrence.
Bama disagrees.

How long had it been since they had both?

I was mainly referring to my deal anyway.

The fact that Dooley was the only coach to accept the position that was approached about it is anything but a rationalization for the last two years; its merely an illustration of just how bad the situation must have been for so many (just) decent coaches to turn down an opportunity to coach at a top 10-15 coaching job in the NCAA.

He did.

I never shut doors completely. He can show me he has a chance with 9 wins. If he blisters it, I'm not above saying I was wrong.

So we have to be ok with settling for the only guy that said ok?

That's BS to me.

WHO SAID THAT???

I wasn't ok with the hiring of Dooley, I just presented one reason WHY he was ever considered for the job.

Part of the problem was the coaching turnover and the loss of players through attrition. The scholarship limits slowed down the rebuilding process as well. Now Dooley finally has 85 scholarship players and a much improved defensive coaching staff. Let's get excited and move foward and quit looking back trying to find someone or something to blame.

Can't wait for the fall! Go Vols!
Because two of the three recruiting classes in question here are on him. Fultard got lazy and it ran the program into the ground.

Yeah...I'm still trying to figure that one out myself...and the fact that he apparently thinks I thought it was ok to take the first guy that said yes to the job.

I wasn't being confrontational. I was just presenting my side. I realize why he was considered. Part of that was MH is an idiot, imo. However, that still doesn't mean you just throw your hands up and accept it.

I'm not calling for Dooley's head immediately. Can he get it done? Possibly. I just don't think he will. Just not much of a fan of the "who else would have us" attitude. It's not the attitude of a winner, imo.
