Can we stop with all the Dooley negativity on the board please? If he loses this year he's gone anyways, so do all of you anti-Dooley guys really think starting thread after thread about how Dooley sucks is productive? Atleast let him coach one game this season before you start calling for Gruden and Tomlin! The past is the past, so complaining about what's happened the past 2 years should have no place in this season's discussion.
Also, its been discussed before that players get on this board every day as well. Do you think it gets them pumped up for the season to see nothing but negativity surrounding the program day after day?
Dooley is going to be the coach this year and in 2013 as well, so all the anti-Dooley people need to either get on board or find the money for a buyout because he isn't going anywhere.
The Dooley negativity is in response to all the antagonists. If you keep calling people out and trying to stick a finger in their eye, then you wouldn't hear a peep from these folks.

This should be fun.
Yes, Dooley will be the coach this season and if we get a winning record, he will return for 2013. A 7 - 6 or an 8 - 5 record will save his job for him.
However; in 2013, he will have big issues and that will most likely be when he loses his job. Should he survive 2013, he will be good to go for the distant future.
What 2013 brings will be Oregon, O Bama, and Florida are away games. So, if we finish with an 8 - 5 record in 2012, then in 2013, we regress to a losing season, then he is gone.
Should we post a winning record in 2012 & 2013, he will likely survive. Even with winning records, Hart may elect to make a change because a simple winning record may not be his expectations.

"Just" a winning record should never be UT's expectations.
__________________ At UT, we piss on coaches like Gruden and try to hire Gumbo Fisher instead.
We would all be supporting him if the team had improved as last season went on instead of regressed, if the players would have looked interested post Alabama, and the team hadn't folded like chairs after an auction is over when Hunter got hurt. The loss of a receiver, as dynamic as Hunter was, should not cause a team to go into shell shock mode for 3 weeks. We had that much time to get ready for UGA and we looked absolutely pathetic in that game. Having said all of that, he gets this year regardless of opinions on him, so we shall see.

I honestly feel that we are on the very urge of something big.
Let's imagine that LSU & UNC had been wins for us and the ref's had not blown it. That is a winning record in 2010. Not a 6 - 7 record but an 8 - 5 record.
Let's imagine that Lathers, Hunter, Bray and Brewer had not sustained injuries last season. We would have beaten U.S.C. with Bray in the game. The Florida game would have been a winable game, even though the offensive line was playing poorly. Also, the morale would have been better for the Ky. game and we have an 8 - 4 record. Then we head to a bowl game.
Now, with that scenerio, pressure is off of Dooley and people are more optimistic.
The ref's and the injuries to a team with depth issues is not anyone's fault on the team or on the coaching staff.
Luck does play a part in wins and loses in close games.
Had Arkansas not fumbled the ball and Ratliffe recovered, we would not have had the National Championship.
Had the kicker from Florida not missed the field goal, we would not have had the National Championship.
Had the ref's not called back the Houston & Riggs t.d.'s in the 2004 S.E.C. Championship game, we would have played in the National Championship game.
We had a little luck in the 2007 Ky. game, that we won in triple o/t to go to S.E.C. Championship game.
Had the nose guard not blocked the Ky. field goal, we would have lost that game.
All we need to do is keep preparing and playing hard and then get a few balls to bounce our way. That will be all the difference in the world.

Hard to stay focused or motivated when you are forced to bring a 3rd stringer off the bench at QB and you are starting 19 true freshman in the 2 deep. If he loses this year there won't be any way to defend him, but for now the negativity doesn't make sense. Heck, even Kiffin had 3 first round draft picks to work with. Dooley had what? A third rounder or two? Apples and oranges.

If that keeps Dooley his job then Hart needs to be fired.

Luck can be the difference in a 13-0 season and a 10-3 season, 1998 proved that. I think Dooley will get it done so I'm not worried about it, I just hate to see so much hate and negativity surrounding the WHOLE program, not just Dooley.

I like the optimism. Hopefully we explode onto the scene this year and make some serious noise.

Stop the negativity, dammit!!!!!
But he'll be fired at the end of this year anyways.

I will support Dooley as he is the coach of my beloved Vols, but it doesn't mean I can't think he's in WAY over his head and not the right guy for the job.

You support someone via overt ACTIONS. You fail to support someone via EXHIBITING overt lack of faith in them. A spouse, colleagues, friends, kids, or even a dog knows this. This is not a putdown or even personal, it is for all our Vols fans who I'd like to have think about this.
As someone said, our players do log onto this board. The perpetual negativism can't possibly be encouraging to those boys who go out there sweat, get yelled at, hit, fatigued, and wear the orange to play for UT. But you folks who can't or won't understand this, beware. You better start thinking about what those players tell friends who're still in high school or recruits who call them up and ask about coming to the UT. Young people talk to each other, influence each other, and trust their word of mouth system more than nearly anything else. Indeed, the UT has already had players advising recruits not to come here. Your negativisim is the best recruiting tool a competitor program can have.
