You ALWAYS pull for your conference when they are playing OOC teams. It's foolish not to. |

You ALWAYS pull for your conference when they are playing OOC teams. It's foolish not to. | It is? They recruit the same players as us and if the recruit sees Alabama winning games or winning a National Championship and sees us going 5-7, it gives them more reason to go to Alabama. Rooting for SEC teams to win is pure idiocy unless you like your enemies/rivals to prosper. |

You ALWAYS pull for your conference when they are playing OOC teams. It's foolish not to. | I kind of agree with both. On one hand you have the jerks from other teams who rub in the pain of last season and then on the other you have the glory of the SEC. I usually can root for any SEC team when they are playing other teams...except fl. I just refuse. Too much abuse from them to want to root for them. |

Don't make me start the thread again. | I'm sure we're all trembling. Start it or don't but that's kind of the purpose of the board. In fairness, I can sort of maybe see what you're saying in bowls because the conference splits the money and then there is the the whole "regional pride" and "us against the world" mentality but other than that...I just don't see it. |

| Well, I would admit that I have become very "sour grapes" if you will. Living through the last four years of Tennessee football has been emotionally tough. As an aside, how lucky are those of us that view a college sport as emotionally tough?
I no longer root for the SEC like I used to. I view it more like fans in the pro game must. You won't find Eagles fans rooting for the Giants or Bears fans rooting for the Packers. It made me sick to watch Alabama and LSU in the NC game and made me sick to think about Kentucky winning another national championship in basketball. It makes me sick that Florida is good in everything--and not because I have any particular feeling towards the state or the school, I couldn't care less. I think Tennessee deserves to be good the way Florida is and maybe my sour grapes will lessen over time as the Vols return to glory. |

| So to answer the question, I would root for USC. The whole bit about giving up titles for UT is silly. Anyway, let's win a few SEC games next year before we start talking about giving back all these alledged titles... |

You guys make a mountain out of a mole hill sometimes.

| I don't have a problem with you chatt-town. Bottom line is: unless the mods have shut those threads down in the past, there is no reason not to post something like that. It's a message board, it's why it's here. |
