I don't plan on riding around the stations in downtown though just plan on riding it straight to the stadium and straight back to the hotel that night. Would that work well from the Brookhaven station that is nearby?
Yes, that will work. You hop on the train in Brookhaven and head on the Southbound train. You have to pay attention to the train because you will have to exit the Southbound train at Five Points station and jump on the Westbound train that will take you to the Dome station. It's very easy to figure out if you read up on a Marta Rail Map. You can find it online very easily.

The area around there is very nice. There's plenty to do and it's all very close by.

We got tix in lower level corner end zone on row 3. I think its section 121. We are staying at official vol hotel (waverly renaissance) and will just cab it to the stadium do I can get wasted. Plus I googled cab fare and it said that it'll cost me $60 total to get to and from so why spend 40$ to park close by, while having to personally deal with the traffic, when I pay $20 more to have someone drop me off where I want.

I checked for a few days before I bought my tickets. Everytime it showed best available in the same area of the end zone. So I ended up buying 2nd lvl & got about the 40 yard line area. The view didnt look bad from the picture on the GA Domes website.

Better rethink your plan to get Pops there ...One day sooner than you think he'll only be a memory ...make the best of it while you can.
