When we won games against Buffalo and Alibama-Birmingham that we would have lost to cross divisional schools in SEC We would be ready to burn down the university. We need a few off weeks like an earlier poster said to heal bodies. Take home coming for instancein 03 I believe. What a debacle, who was stupid enough to schedule a powerhouse school on our homecoming. We got drilled something like 27-3(cant remember exactly). I would be ticked if I flew back to my alma mater where Id be honored and UT got smoked on the field.

Not in BCS if 2 losses and another decent league is undefeated. Only way your proposed plan works is in Superconferences with playoff in mind so teams from premier conferences don't sneak in while the powers pummel each other out of contention.

Maybe the Vols should add the AFC South to their schedule too. 12 SEC games, an SEC championship game, and road-trips to Houston, Nashville, Jacksonville, and Indy ought to teach these bums a lesson.

chicken and the egg thing here. Got to go to playoff then fine conference champ gets their shot and even then SEC probably gets screwed as if they 9-3 and a Big 10 or 12 team is undefeated Im pretty sure they will have like a 1 seed and a battered SEC team has another obstacle or two that the weaker leagues dont.

I still think it's a bad idea that the SEC sit on a 8 game conference schedule:

- A few years ago when you only had 11 games, that meant an 8/3 split. Only 3 patsies then, why is 3 patsies no longer enough?

- Attendance is a big issue everywhere (except Alabama, and that's just because they're good right now). What is the value of having 7 home games if it includes Akron, Georgia State, and Troy? No true UT fan will admit to not buying tickets due to the schedule. After all, your going to see the VOLS not the opponent, right? But when you realize your buying season tickets and only using half of them, it becomes easy to justify not buying the season tickets due to the cost.

- For all the praise of how great the SEC is at winning the BCS, it is top heavy. You have bottom feeders like Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State who have not been consistently great in years. And then you have teams that are hot right now but have had down years (Look at Georgia in the 90's with Donnan and Ray Goof; And LSU didn't look so great when they had Vandy's coach a few years back). Think about it, in the late 90's when UT was hot, their regular opponents included USCe, Vandy, UK, UGA, and Alabama who were all average to mediocre.

- So UT will only travel to the SEC West schools potentially once every 13 years? my math may be off, but either way, that's a long time to go between visits. And for what, so we can play UAB more often? I would rather place LSU more often.

- So far the Pac-12, Big 10, and ACC have all announced they will move to 9 game conference schedules. What is going to happen if you have a year where, say, FSU, USC, and LSU all have 1 loss? Will the SEC be left out because of a weaker schedule?
