Summer Delusions

Ah, June...

When overconfidence is rampant...

When all UT players have a "different" attitude this year, and our crappy performances over the last decade are all blamed on just not having this great new attitude and work ethic...

When all UT players have become faster, stronger, smarter, and generally better while all of our competitors' players who beat us last year are naturally assumed to have suddenly become fat, lazy and stupid...

When all "toss-up" games are of course assumed to be UT wins...

When UT fans rave about how unbelievable every incoming freshman is a beast that is going to turn UT's fortunes around to then see said freshman ride the pine all year long...

When posts are made about how someone dreamed that we're going to beat Florida this year....

When posts are made about how someone dreamed that we're going to beat Alabama this year....

When people make ridiculous posts about how one of the worst run-blocking offensive lines in the nation last year is going to be one of the top offensive lines in the nation this year...

When it is assumed that our coaching staff and QB, neither of which have ever won a single big game while at UT, are suddenly going to morph into world-beaters...

The trolling is strong with this one.

I can't see what the troll in post #3 said, but I'm fairly certain he agrees with the OP.

I think we are going to win the NC every season until the final BCS rankings come out, so I really have no clue what you're talking about.

I kind of felt like this last year. I said we'd get 6-7 wins and I was still wrong. On the other hand this year I really feel optimistic about our chances. I've said I could see us winning 9 ball games with a bowl game.

The biggest question that I have yet to see is: will experience translate to victories on the field? All these guys are juniors and have been playing a lot, now it's time to see if that will translate to victories.

Spot on post, OP.

Although it does stand to reason that we WILL be better in virtually every aspect of the game this year. By how much will be the telling statistic, though.

We follow this team because we choose to. It's OK to have fun with it and in fact, to enjoy life in general. It's OK to be happy, positive and optimistic. If you feel none of that is true, then I am so sorry your life is that miserable. Go Vawls ... make the Gators shat their pants. 13-0 until proven otherwise, mofo.

Btw, I've never understood this line of thinking. Fans are fans because they wanna get excited about something they have no control over. They want something to look forward to.

If Dooley's gotta go, he's gotta go. I just don't understand why you would begrudge someone their due pre-season optimism...

I agree. Some people need to have a little more fun in life. OP is somewhat correct though...but why post that negative crap??? Attention I guess.
