I like the emphasis on "at least".... mostly because its the truth.

Second, the word spread is one of the most overused terms in CFB.

If we are in the shotgun 50% of any game (aka the "spread"), I'll wear checkerboard overalls to the UF game.
you might want to go ahead and get them there checkerboard overalls.

I'd like to see more of it, but not a pure switch to one

What kind of spread are you suggesting we use? A spread to run offense like Urban Meyer, Gus Malzahn, and Chip Kelly run? Or a spread to pass like Mike Leach or June Jones? All 5 of those coaches use the "spread" but they are completely different offenses. IMO, an air raid/run & shoot offense would not work in the SEC and we do not have the right players to go spread option right now. Of course we will use the shotgun a lot but I don't think we will move full time to the spread. We will continue to use multiple sets like we have for a while.

We lost a good TE and don't seem to have found a solid pro-style RB yet(jury still out on Lane), but we have a handful(or more!) of guys that can make things happen in space. I could be way off here and maybe they're moving to that with Peterman next year? Bray, Hunter, Rogers, and hopefully Patterson fit a pro-style offense, but at least half of them are gone next year. Everybody behind these four seem to fit a spread offense better. Maybe? Flame away....
simple. no

Op said next year with peterman...

Would have to be assuming that bray leaves
Would have to be assuming peterman beats out worley (haven't seen either)
Would have to assume coaches are installing offense now in parallel to what they are running this year.

Have a bit of patience with our system, which was incredible when hunter and rogers were healthy, and might have helped if bray had of been healthy last year also.

Consistency pays dividends. Or haven't you had enough of the turmoil for the past half a decade.

We will run a pro style. We will have some shotgun formations. We will not run the spread as our primary offense.

"Hybrid pro-Spread"

Too funny. Anyway, if and when UT is in a Pro set, it had better be able to run the ball effectively or else opposing defenses will play pass coverage and go after Bray.

If Bray ever does line up in the shotgun/pistol formation, UT had better be able to run the ball or else......rinse and repeat, same as above.

So the formation is not the issue. The ability to run the football is the issue. If you want to win a game in the 4th qtr in the SEC, you dam#ed well better be able to run the ball and control the clock. That is what UT is still missing IMO. If you think teams are going to let UT pass at will if they do not have a running game, you are wrong. Not in the SEC.

Everyone can't wait to see 4 and 5 WR sets and Bray slinging the ball around. But teams that win consistently in this league run the ball much more than they pass it, and they run it successfully (think Bama, LSU, UGA, USC, Aub)(Arky is anexception, but they do run it well when they are on the ground). That allows those teams to keep the ball away from UT's offense and control the clock.

So UT fans, if you have visions or hope of a 9 or 10 win season (8 for that matter), you better hope that UT finds a real running game.

I don't particularly like the spread too much. I am not saying we should move to the spread. I don't care if we ever run it. I wanna see Howard, Watson, Young, and Neal getting touches in space. Whatever Chaney and the gang implement to make that happen is fine with me!

You know what? I have done a little reading about spread offenses. I like the traditional spread. I don't care for the spread-to-run variant that Meyer and Malzahn ran. I do like the spread as it has been used in the NFL by the Patriots and Packers. I like the one back version. I can see an explosive O using the hurry up and moving Pig, Q, Neal, and Young around the field taking turns at RB and slot on either side..... As I have said, I don't have a lot of football knowledge.... but I bet we line up in the Elway one-back set a lot this year.... one back, one TE, 3 wide.....

The spread that UF/Auburn ran is quite different from Leach's Air-Raid. I personally don't care to see us run either full time.

Air-Raid formations could be good in hurry up situations but the problem is the red zone. We could use it to get down field quickly and then switch to a pro-style formation once in the red zone.

I like the idea of mixing things up to keep defenses off balance as long as we have the personnel and everyone understands the concepts to make it work.

The key to 2012 season. Bray will likely throw it around with success between the 20's. Inside the 20's UT will need a solid power rushing game.
