| What If TN starts 2012 6-0! Ive seen countless threads the last few weeks along the lines of "what happens to Dooley if TN doesn't beat NC State?" or "Does TN have to beat UF?" or "how many games does Dooley have to win to keep his job?" As a birth till death vol fan I must say - It's depressing!
Grated, a little negativity is understandable with what weve been through the last five years but this board needs a positive vibe. With more returning experienced and talented players than TN has seen in half a decade, and facing a MUCH easier schedule than in years past, I think TN is going to shock some people with their early season success.
Thus, this thread is to discuss the flip side of the "what if" threads:
What if TN starts out 6-0 going into the Alabama game in Knoxville on October 20th! - How good will it be to reenter the Top 25 in September then break into the top 15 on the heels of the Top 10 going into the Bama game.
- How good will it be to be sitting at the top of the SEC East standings in Mid October.
- How good will it be to have recruiting momentum skyrocket due to six straight wins.
- How good will it be to have some of TN's Players talked about as having a chance at the Heisman Trophy if they can continue their winning play.
- How good will it be to have ESPN game day in Knoxville for the third saturday in october!
- How good will it be to at least be in the discussion as having a chance to contend for the national title if they could some how keep winning.
Look at this schedule! Maybe its not "likely" - but it is certainly possible. W Fri, Aug 31 vsNorth Carolina State* 7:30 PM ET W Sat, Sept 8 vsGeorgia State TBD W Sat, Sept 15 vsFlorida TBD W Sat, Sept 22 vsAkron TBD W Sat, Sept 29 @Georgia TBD W Sat, Oct 13 @Mississippi State TBD

| How about let's take it 1 game at a time? I'm just as excited as the next Vols fan, but I don't like putting the buggy in front of the horse. |

| Not to compare this team to the one in '98, but UT had just won at Auburn and UGA crushed LSU the same day. The next week, UGA was supposed to crush UT, it didn't work out that well for them.
Not saying it's likely, but UT has gone into Athens and beaten a "better" UGA team. See 1992, 1994, 1998, 2004, & 2006. |

| I think we will be 5-1, at best, but I appreciate the attitude. I'm not a big fan of Dooley, but will be swayed by a fast start and respectable showing against Bama... |

| it would be great, but i think we will lose at georgia. just being realistic. until this team shows me it can win on the road, i have to feel this way. i do think we will be 5-1 going into the bama game. |

| | Senior Member | It is not impossible especially if we beat Florida. That will pump motivation into this team. Georgia would then be the key.
My expectation is at least 4-2. If we are 5-1 then I'm satisfied.
Avoiding key injuries at LB and TE is important. |
