I know, he's already made the decision, GET OVER IT! I have gotten over it. But that doesn't mean I agree it was the better decision. Frankly, when San Fran got involved, I thought he would have been better off to go there.
With the article posted yesterday about how he has several contacts with the Rockies' organization, mainly Helton, I wonder if that didn't play a major factor in his decision. I had no idea he had worked out there for years and had taken batting practice with them and all of that. It was a very interesting read. | On a scale of 1 - 10 with 1 being complete fail and 10 being complete success, the chances of success in Nashville meeting the expectations was about a 5, in Denver it is about an 8. And him doing better than Teebow is about a 12. Teebow was about 4 games away from being disliked in Denver......just sayin. |

But understand that it is all speculation as to why he did or did not go some place. I am fairly certain Peyton did not call either you or I to get our opinion on where he should go, so saying that San Fran, Nash or Denver was the better decision is silly. Clearly we don't have all of the facts.
Peyton is a smart man and made the decision that was best for him. I support that. The rest of these arguments are simply personal bias and self importance. I was just saying that I can understand that coming to Nashville could be a tough transition for a Vol legend. We fans tend to eat our own. Want proof? Look at our handling of Fulmer/Kiffen/Dooley or how there are some who say that Peyton "snubbing" Nashville means that he is no longer a VFL. Whatever. There is always some very vocal minority of the fan base willing to literally hang anyone or anything they don't agree with. Eric Berry goes to visit Lane in So Cal and there are some who start to hyperventilate. Ridiculous. |

But I would think his ability to meet expectations in Nashville would be about a -3, if us Vol fans are involved. Sometimes deifying a person is a two edged sword. If you remind some fans that a Peyton lead team never beat Florida and got embarrassed by Memphis and Nebraska the pitch forks come out.
I really like the guy, and I am always proud of any successful Vol graduates. I wish him nothing but the best in Denver. |

I think that in about 2 years we would have heard Peyton sucks from about half the state. I wish him well also and hope one day he is back in some roll here at The UT. But on his terms, and not ours. |

1st Bold:
Welcome to VolNation, Mr. Adams. Are you about ready to "retire", so the Titans can get a sane owner that wasn't alive when the Huns overran Asia?
2nd Bold:
They probably use a similar rationale to cheer for a team that doesn't have "Tennessee" written on their jerseys despite living in Tennessee that a fan of the "Tennessee" on the jersey team that verbosely berates Tennessee residents that are not fans of the "Tennessee" on the jersey team, and tacitly yet convolutedly justifies the fact that the owner of said "Tennessee" on the jersey team must commute to Tennessee to watch the "Tennessee" on the jersey team play their "home" games because despite the fact that the team has been located in Tennessee since 1997 that owner still resides in Texas and initially met with Mr. Manning in HOUSTON before making a special flight to Tennessee to showcase what the "Tennessee" on the jersey team's facilities offered and meet with the 'other' corporate staff.
(Whew-deliberately using no punctuation for dramatic effect is tiresome)
By this logic, Bud Adams, excuse me- you (remember the MY Titans thingy?), are as guilty as those vile, repugnant non-"Tennessee" on the jersey fans who reside in Tennessee. In fact, Adams....er, you...is/are worse. There are TWO teams that have something associated with "Texas", his/your choice of state residence, on their jerseys. Moreover, one of those teams has "Houston" on their uniforms and/or stadium/name which happens to be his/your hometown of choice.
