| Derek Dooley, when asked about impending college football playoff Tennessee’s Derek Dooley: “This is something that has been talked about for over 20 years. I’ve always been in favor of the plus-one model. I think it’s a great way to preserve the one thing that makes college football special, and that’s the regular season, but still polish up the postseason to get that national championship right. I think it will be a good thing.” What’s the best way to get to four teams? “I don’t know. I’d just like to be there one day.”
I love his last statement. Dooley Speaks on New BCS Format |

| Dooley might one day make a 4 team playoff. I wouldn't bet on it happening while he's at UT |

| Not in favor of a playoff. It's the best regular season in sports, period, precisely because of the bowl system. Every game counts as it should. If a playoff system is implemented, and an undefeated team rests their starters late in the year in a nonconference game because they are a lock for the playoffs, I think I'll puke. No way. |

| With the plus one model I dont think you're going to see a team slack off at the end of the year, one loss .. heck, just one "not so impressive win" could slide a team from 3 to 5 and be out of the hunt |

No way. | What about if there are more than two teams who deserve consideration for the title game, like this year? And many times in the past? |

| If its left up to a computer to decide the contenders in 1-4 idea they are discussing now, then perhaps it wouldn't be so bad. Just using the same ranking method but taking the top 4 teams and creating a playoff would eliminate the chance of a team "slacking" or sitting their starters. Then playoffs take care of their own and we get 2 extra bowl games to enjoy. |

I just don't see a team resting in any game, because the top 4 is still not going to be a guarantee. They may rest players after building a 3-4 TD lead, but that happens now anyway. |

I'm just a purist when it comes to the sport I love. There is something special about the regular season in college football that no other sport can match, and I think a playoff system will tarnish that.................jmo |

I believe we can win the SEC with Dooley after he has long enough to stack the roster. Bama and LSU are up now, but I am old enough to remember when we beat them several years running. Things go in cycles and we are on the upswing. |

I think with the plus 1, they can hold it together though. Past that would be a mistake IMO. |
