Football Greg King

I don't recall hearing his name called in the spring game, and I didn't see him in the depth chart. The latter would not have surprised me if an RS fresh with an ACL tear weren't listed in front of him.

Any updates on his status?

I haven't heard, but if he could build on his freshman year performance, we could sure use him.

According to the participation report, he played in the Orange & White game. But I never noticed him.

Getting passed up by a guy who was a fullback in January tells me that they don't think he's gonna be able to stay healthy enough to contribute much.

Gregs injuries were severe. Many players would have quit the game. Admire his courage and desire. Hope he can get back someday.

he played. I remember him getting sucked into back field on a sweep play once. mis-read the blocks.. he has to prove over long term he can stay healthy.. knock has been, he looks for sideline after a few practices... hard to know when he is really hurt or just wants to rest

Sounds like me, only I'm considerably older than Greg.

Sounds like he hasn't recovered mentally. Just a question you might know the answer to Larry, do players have access to psychologists/therapists to help them recover from the trauma of physical injury?

I'm not sure of how it all works but if a player has that need, they will get that help.

I think a huge part of Greg's problems are related to coaching changes. Monte was high on him and then was gone after one year. Greg pouted and became aloof from msot of team. then he constantly is dinged up.

If you think of all the staff changes that the junior and seniors have endured, it is a very, very unstable situation for young people to deal with. most have been able to handle it, it appears. But I wouldn't be surprised if many have struggled with that dynamic.

Staff changes are very hard on players and the ones that were on the team before the change don't adjust for the most part. It's a mental process that takes a long time to get over. People in general don't like change and I completely understand that. Maybe King can get over it and be productive for his team.

I think Greg King's problem is in his elbow, not his head.

An article was posted about King a few weeks ago, which is attached below. King is excited, healthy for the first time in awhile and ready for the season. I don't think health is his biggest issue right now, seems like he needs to get into better shape and learn the defense.

Dooley reiterated what everybody else already knew, when he said he's been hurt a lot in the PAST and we need to keep him on the field, but Dooley also said "Greg is doing a lot better."
