Lets keep Neal where he is. Adrain Foster had problems with fumbling and now is an elite NFL rb. Jay Graham is paid to fix problems like this so lets give him a chance before we start shuffling Neal to a new position. Neal was thrilled to get the chance to be a full time rb so here is his chance. Most college teams don't give one rb 35 carries a game much anymore so you need 2 rb rotating or even more. Don't sell Neal short just yet this is a problem that can be corrected. As for who starts, the question is not relevant. We run the ball say 150 yards a game on average with 2-3 rb problem fixed.

Someone with some information, please correct me and make me feel better. I know it's early, but we've seen enough from some of these guys to form an opinion. We have Lane, who is inconsistent, Neal who has ball-security issues, Young who doesn't have the size to run between the tackles, Smith who has been eerily quiet, ditto for Hill, and Borque who may not even play RB. I don't think we have an every-down back on roster which tells me and every other SEC defense what our offense will be like. A shame really when you consider the talent on the line. We will be pass-happy for sure, but you have to have someone who can pick up a 1st down. Flame away, but the lack of a run game has tormented me for years and years. | Lane, Young and Neal are all having a goos Spring.
Don't worry about RB, worry about the line. |

Lane is the man this year regardless. Lane will be 2 years removed from the ACL and back to full speed. Neal needs to decide whether to get it done right as a RB, play slot receiver, or go home. Bourque and Hill are the real deals. They are tough. Bourque's not here yet. Hill has mono. DY is the X factor.
Freak out later, it's just April. | Neal and Lane look neck and neck in terms of ability to me. Neal is a bigger guy. their footwork through CG's drills mirrored each other. The only guy I saw get work at the slot was Lane. Young isn't big but he goes wide open through the drills and you can tell that Neal and Lane are pacing themselves. |

| I think we'll see D. Young's carries go up to about 10-12 a game. He's running very well in practice on limited carries. |

| D. Young may be a nice surprise. He may be small but he is quick and fast. |

| [QUOTE=WA_Vol;6621896]I thought recruiting a really good RB in this last recruitin class would have been priority #1. Not sure Dooley got the job done, he did recruit Bourque who was listed as an athlete but wants to play RB. He is a little taller then most backs.
wasn't Eddie George was 6'3'' or 6'4''??? |

Back to Bourque, I don't follow recruiting except for what Scout and Rivals say about them. Scout listed him as a #29 RB and a 3 star. I'm a little bit disappointed UT didn't land a top 10 RB with the starting RB position up for grabs. Scout.com: Davante' Bourque Profile

The conventional wisdom now after Barry Sanders and Emmitt Smith is that the shorter backs have better balance. Don't know if that is really true. Davante Bourque - Yahoo! Sports

| I've never been impressed with Neal at RB, but he shocked me at WR - catches the deep ball better than Rogers imo.....'Eep him at WR. Let Borque come in a split carries with Lane. That's our best hope at). BTW, we don't need to be air force and run for 300+ yds a game.....we just need to be effective when we need to be - 1st and 2nd down. Posted via VolNation Mobile |
